Playing on High/Ultra isn't a requirement to enjoy the game.

You get what you pay for, if you buy a low end computer then you can play BF3 on low settings, but the core gameplay remains the same.

Brings back the debate between gameplay and graphics. Would you refuse to buy a game because your computer couldn't play it on high settings at 60fps, and that it could only manage low settings and still get a decent framerate?

I know consoles are outdated and a new generation is a must, but really, my 360 has never caused me any trouble. Back when I played BF2 on PC, it took ages to download patches, find low ping servers, get the game to actually run, diagnose computer problems, etc. With the console, just power on, put the disc in, and play.

edit: Off topic question, but the "Back to Karkand" expansion thing you get when you pre-order the limited edition, can I just pick up a limited edition copy on Tuesday and still get the expansion pack? Or is it required that we have to preorder to get it?

Consoles go for nearly a quarter of a grand. They also have much fewer fuck ups and are much less of a hassle to deal with.

I game on both PC and consoles and understand why people prefer consoles. Being able to crawl onto my couch and have everything just work beats the hell out of sitting at a desk and troubleshooting punkbuster or the million other problems BF2 had.
These are the people who in 2011 can't even operate simple updates and other practical computer functions on a PC and end up getting Macs and consoles cause "PC TOO HARD GUISE!"

The PS3 has the equivalent of a 8600GT powering it and BF3 will be locked at 30FPS, but console players have been gushing about how amazing it looks even on PS3.

Its about perception, PC gamers expect more for their money.

Human eye can only see at 30fps I've heard, so what's the point of having more than that? lol

People who don't play consoles. You obviously don't know what you're talking about, so I'd advise you stop talking about it now before everyone who has a clue comes down on you and makes you feel silly

I don't care if I feel "silly". Can you explain why 100fps is any better than 30fps? If the eye can only see 30fps, anything greater than that won't be visible. Won't it just appear smoother?

http://www.boallen.com/fps-compare.html

K so it's smoother. lolz

You can see past 30fps. ever see a movie playing at 60FPS on those blue rays? waaay different (60fps looks weird lel).

Man people can definitely tell the difference past 30fps, its way way way more fluid/smoother.

Yea, I get the point. (it also helps when slowing down things in slow mo. Something shot at 60fps will be alot smoother when slowed down than something shot at 30fps)

Now, is there much of a difference between 60fps and 100fps?

I still don't quite understand why you guys say you can get a computer that can run BF3 on all high, even ultra at a decent resolution for like $600-$800. Doesn't the graphics card alone cost a good $200-$350? Plus the mobo, RAM, cooling, etc. Maybe it's just Canada, but a decent gaming PC will cost at least a grand (if you buy it prebuilt. I know you guys all say to build it yourself, but it seems like a hassle)
Building a computer is really easy. I've built dozens of them, literally, but only 2 of those were for myself.

It's much cheaper to do it yourself, and it's simple to do.

The problem is I've been "out of the loop" for quite some time now on what the good hardware is. More expensive doesn't always mean it performs better.

If your on the cheap get a AMD six core CPU.  If you have the cash get core i7.  Memory is dirt cheap all around.  ATi video cards are cheap as well.  Your talking $700-$800 for a decent build.

I'll keep this in mind when we have to upgrade this current computer. We shell out probably $1500 every 5-6 years for a new one, better off to build my own for half that maybe.
