Imho this whole thing is no reason for the US to change the status quo with Israel. It would take something a lot more sinister than a bunch of illegal settlements, and since the Israelis know that, nothing will change. Or maybe that's my pesimism speaking.
If the U.S would just stop financing Israel, with this alone, we would see a lot less aggression towards the U.S. But the Muslims hate us for more then just that

I do seem to remember the Obama administration saying they'd stop the funding, right?

Isn't the U.S supporting Palestine with humanitarian aid also? Or is that something I'm mistaken about?

Ha , America not supporting Israel. That president will be brand it anti Semitic for the rest of his life and probably have to quite the office.
As long as Israel has US by the balls they would do what ever they wish.

By the way guys, it's not just America that supports Israel.  France gave them nukes, and Canada is pretty supportive as well.

I don't consider them a valuable ally myself, but it's not like we're the only ones funding them.

Yes, they are...  aren't they?

I was wrong about Wilders being ousted, because I had mistaken one of the more recent trials against him as being successful.  It wasn't.  The Netherlands defended his freedom of speech.  So, kudos to the Netherlands for that.

Still, this has happened recently...

"On 21 January 2009, a three judge court ordered prosecutors to try him. Their statement argued that "In a democratic system, hate speech is considered so serious that it is in the general interest to... draw a clear line" and that "The court also considers appropriate criminal prosecution for insulting Muslim worshippers because of comparisons between Islam and Nazism made by Wilders". If convicted, he may be liable for up to 16 months of jail time or a fine of €9866.67. His lawyer, Bram Moszkowicz, plans to take the case to the Supreme Court of the Netherlands."

So, Wilders hasn't been ousted yet.  Instead, people keep trying to prosecute him for hate speech.  So I was wrong, but not far from the mark.

As for legislation and litigation limiting or hindering the criticism of Islam (a reference to the current case against Wilders)....

The article below addresses the circumstances around the deaths of Fortuyn and Theo Van Gogh.

An example of the U.N. limiting criticism against religion (more specifically Islam).

You were miles off the mark. He hasn't been ousted, he hasn't been convicted and all your links just go on and on about the fact he was brought to trial. So far you haven't done anything to demonstrate that there has been any legislation passed to appease Muslims. So half your point is plain wrong and the other half you haven't shown to be true in any sense. They have hate speech laws, yes. But so do loads and loads of countries. I very much doubt there are special dispensations made for Muslims at any level of Dutch legislation.

Israel to expand West Bank homes 07/09/2009
Israel has officially approved the construction of nearly 400 new homes in the occupied West Bank, the Israeli defence ministry has announced.
It says the decision to build 366 housing units has been authorised by Defence Minister Ehud Barak.
This is the first new government-approved construction project in the West Bank since Prime Minister Benjamin Netanhyahu came to power in March.
It comes despite a US pressure to halt building at settlements.

Palestinians have ruled out resumption of peace talks with Israel until a complete freeze to the settlements.
The settlement issue is expected to be discussed when Mr Netanyahu's aides meet US special envoy to the Middle East, George Mitchell, later this week.
So who is being pig-headed and intransigent here?
Its not as if Israel itself is short of empty valueless desert to build on.
