Well, this wouldn't necessarily be limited to movies or games. But, as mentioned in the article and imo, this technology isn't necessarily limited to just disks either.

Depends on what you consider film quality. You could not fit a digital cinema replication of a film on a BD. Obviously there would be no need for this type of storage in the home, but for studio or theater quality BD disc would not cut it. 2k (2048×1536) is pretty much the standard now but 4K (4096×2160) is starting to be introduced in some theaters.
