Over 72 hours of playtime with my level 61 soldier and I haven't come across any super rare weapons... I've gotten plenty of orange guns but nothing like that.

I don't really see the point. About 1/3 of the way through the game as the Sniper class I was regularly finding good Sniper rifles which took enemies down easily and efficiently as I was levelling through. There's no real need for the super weapons unless you suck so much that you find it impossible to get the critical hits/headshots and shit. I'm just an average sniper/sharpshooter but I was getting them regularly in that game.

Once you hit level 61 it becomes a hunt for the best weapons...

And incidentally, some of the rare weapons' unique effects make them the best in the game....
