You'd probably be on a trawler up there, which is shift work. Easy time if a bit cold.
There was four of us on a pretty small boat. Fuck all to do but work for the month and we worked with the tides. That means 4 'shifts' a day. 4 hours sleep in a row was like heaven but rarely happened. Good money but here in the tropics it was pretty hard on the body. Numerous cuts that didn't heal the whole month out there, difficulties with sunburn, major problems with weeping wounds caused by friction and salt water around my knees etc. Have a purple scar that wont go away from where one of my boots wore away at a small patch of flesh until I had a hole about a centimeter deep in the side of my calf.
Still, was a good experience. Gives me awesome bragging rights when it comes to wrestling and killing a large shark.
