"Striking French workers for U.S. manufacturer 3M held their boss hostage amid labor talks Wednesday at a plant south of Paris, as anger over layoffs and cutbacks mounted around the country."

"In France, it is not unheard-of for striking workers to hold company executives as a way of winning concessions from management. The hostages are almost never injured. A similar situation ended peacefully earlier this month at Sony's French facilities."

and my favorite part of the story:

"Vandals attacked the home and car of the former head of the Royal Bank of Scotland, smashing windows early Wednesday at the house of the ex-CEO who resigned in disgrace but walked out with an annual pension of about 700,000 pounds ($1.2 million).

Three windows were smashed at Fred Goodwin's sandstone Victorian house in one of Edinburgh's wealthy suburbs. The rear window of a black Mercedes S600 car parked in the driveway was also smashed."



Say what you want about the euros, but they know how to make the "ruling class" know that they are pissed off..  Completly the opposite of the americans (and canadians) who just like to sit there and not move while they are being economically raped.

Btw I not saying go trash the house of some CEO of AIG, all am saying is at least there is some kind of reactions over there.. and i think that it is a good thing.. a bad reaction is better than no reaction at all..  And they didnt kill anybody..

So even if your representative received tons of letters and phone call saying that a huge majority of the people are against the bailouts, you still agree with his decision?

Now if you are for the bailouts, i can understand but if you are against it, how can you call that democracy when the elected officials do not listen to the people?

Anarchy is not only when people destroy properties and that it is free for all in the streets..  there is also the economical anarchy..  When the governement start bailing out failed businesses, giving away tax payers money while not having a clue where the money is going.  When a private bank (the fed) have the futur of your country in their hands..  i call that anarchy..  there is no more rules.

The french are notorious when it comes to protests and strikes, and standing up for their rights they are willing to do whatever it takes ...

I admire their guts but not always their methods ... they hold their electives accountable for what they promise during elections and makes sure they keep the same promises, you gotta have balls to be a french politician

You are basically saying that Euros are ruled by a mob mentality.  Euros are not ruled by the mob.

You also believe that a mob mentality is actually a democracy.  It's not a democracy, it's called anarchy when a few people decide to take things in their own hands.

You believe that there is a possibility that a handful of protestors actually would make a difference in Europe.  They do not.

You believe that companies and their management is the ruling class.  They are powerful but equally as powerful as the people...why?  Because people are the company.  The ruling class?  All the countries mentioned (even the US btw) are some sort of democracy.

You brought up the bailout.  Now, prove the link to European hostage takers.  What are the similarities?  One has to do with the government attempting to rectify a situation, but it's an imperfect solution.  Why?  It's a little more complex then tossing a brick at a CEO's BMW.  So what are the similarities?
