I do agree that the filter is a shit idea, but everywhere else Labor > Liberals.

It's NSW state Labor that is in a total mess atm.
NT Labor isn't in great shape either.

The woman that got them in govt. is long gone (Clare Martin) and they almost lost the last election despite decent approval ratings.

Both plans are slow btw Reaps afaik, the difference being Rudd promises to improve the infrastructure significantly. Hope he follows through with it.

Here's hoping they actually do something about CEO's pay levels too. I'd be very, very surprised if the Libs ever did anything about it.

That's true. It will be very interesting to see if the Liberal National Party experiment is a success.

I agree, but Telstra had a dummy spit when it didn't look like they could get away with offering crap speeds, submitted a woeful (and late lol) proposal which was then rejected by the govt. so they have been cut out of the infrastructure completely.

It's about time Telstra was placed under some competitive pressure tbh. If they do want to compete with the govt. network, they will have to do it with greater speeds and affordability.

Exactly.

They cherry pick the most gruesome pics they can find of relatively-late-term abortions and just say "this is what an abortion looks like" - no detail about what type of abortion - no information - no education - just gore and shock - and bollox.

Education is key, not shock and awe.

The Liberal plan was going to cost n'th amount as the Labor plan so I don't see how you can even compare the two.

Also, Liberal's plan was to put a competitive network in the bush, guess what you're paying so much for.

I know. It's a good thing. Cunts.

What would really be nice is if the Rudd Broadband plan is going to extend beyond the limits of the urban areas on the south/east coast and Perth.

Probably wont though.

@ Brinson.... I have posted repeatedly about the gun safe less than 10m from me. We gave up automatic rifles/shotguns and semi auto shotguns after a 36 person killing spree by a mentally unstable and very, very dull guy from Tasmania. Everything else requires a licence, a safe and a valid reason for ownership. It's a bit like having a licencing system for drivers to help prevent dangerous accidents on roads.

ghetto, you in England at the moment? Because England has internet filtering and has had it for a few years now.

I'm with lowing on this though, we do not need an internet filter. We need parents who will take responsibility for what their child has access to, that includes using passwords and security on the computer.

What the fuck does an internet filter have to do with controlled fire-arms? It's a political power play caused by a highly conservative christian fundamentalist party holding a single but rather essential seat in one of the houses of the federal parliament.

I guess it might have something to do with Martin Bryant killing 35 people and injured another 21 with a high powered semi-automatic rifle at Port Arthur back in the mid 90's. As a rather laid back society, we were ok with the idea that "hey, actually we might not need those weapons".

Edit:

Oh, Flecco beat me to it.

Well there hasn't been one of those America style (or European.. to be equitable) gun rampages since. Wait... Wait.. Since we gave up those kind of weapons and accepted much tougher regulations.

Not to mention our atrocious gun laws which requires a licence to own a deadly weapon, wow the shit we have to put up with.

Afaik just child porn.

When did this become a pissing contest about USA vs. Australia? I can't name a single person who wants or will benefit from this that I personally know. Only people I can think of are the Federal Labor lot, who get Conroy on side, and Conroy, who gets to laugh at the mayhem he's just caused half the country as far as internet speeds go.

About the privacy stuff, I don't like it but we have to put up with it because Rudd sure as hell wont touch it with a 50ft stick and it was the Libs that introduced it. Why isn't Gillard the PM... WHY?

Shit, maybe I should write to Xenophon or the Greens about it.
