Democracy is about giving people all the facts and the ability to choose the outcome based on everything. The poll is more rigid, more dictatorship like. Two options are presented with no flexibility. How can I vote when there  is little to convince me about the user. It's like a kick vote in BF2, mostly useless since most players have no idea what the "offender" is accused of. Not all of us follow every thread or visit the forums on a daily basis.
