limited how?
Just edited the post while you were posting. And if you look through, for example, the last few pages, that's exactly what it is.

I do not know how or why people can not look at their results objectively.

This is particularly annoying because it is so blatantly obvious.
Considering there's physical proof that it's so; yes, it is obvious.

People don't know the history of the two companies/op. systems either. Most people don't know Jobs actually used to sell software/op syst. FOR gates. As in partners. Just stuff like that. Then Jobs realized if he broke away and went with his vision, and make some risky investments (such as apple and pixar/pixar for certain) that he could make billions. Which he did.
If they aren't up to speed on what's been happening the last 5 or so years do you think their aware of what was going on in the mid 80's? ..lol. Most people aren't aware that Jobs was actually forced out of operations.. that had to be a mutha Fuc&^ of a spin.

Apple is a 'good company', they come up with product after product and successfully commercialise them.

As opposed to Microsoft which is yet to actually create anything novel.

Apple makes cool computers and has some cool ideas with their OS...  my only issue with Macs are the users... they are some of the most irritating people on the planet...lol...it's like a cult.... artists i know dont think you're serious unless you use a mac.... newsflash... Adobe is the same on PC and Mac...

It is now, basically since MS copied the Apple look and feel and changed things around so you no longer need to know machine code to install software.
But Apple is a bit of a trend, same as BMW.

I'd really rather not have any companies fail. Not for the jobs but for the competition. Besides, the higher the supply, the lower the cost for the consumer. If you want a rival company to fail, be ready to pay a lot more for your favorite product.

Ok, I get the point.
But companies are going to fail.

My question maybe should have been out of all the companies in danger of going under, which ones don't you care about?

i'd rather see diedrichs coffee thrive and starbucks die.  Sorry about that. I think these massive mega corporations are what's bad for competition.

How many small manufactors have stopped making and inventing products because everything is designed in India and made in China?
How many small businesses have died because a walmart moved in, or a home depot. They kill the competition and rarely sell anything made in the U.S.A.

Modern versions of capitalism include the notion of making something shitty enough that it doesn't last long, thereby equaling more sales because when all that is available is junk, you have to sometimes buy the same thing twice. In vegas recently I was going to buy a plastic wash tub, but the handle broke before I could get it out the store. Instead I bought a Dewalt hammer drill, which worked for three holes and then locked in the non-hammer mode.

The only place that sold tools in Summerlin was a home depot. It's all garbage. I know many contractors, and when I was shopping for a new water heater I asked my hvac buddy about the ones at hd and he said their company will ot install them because they will fail within two years because they use carbon steel fittings attached to copper inlets. like duh.

GM - They killed the electric car (having developed and commercialised it in the first place)
Yeah because Ford, Chrysler, Honda, Nissan, and Toyota didn't also make electric vehicles at the exact same time the EV1 was released...

I'm sick of people who actually watch that documentary talk like GM is evil. GM tried to market the car but when gas was just $1.50 or so per gallon, no matter cared about fuel efficiency. Hell, you know a documentary is biased when the director himself says it was incredibly biased. I fail to understand why anybody would take "Who Killed the Electric Car" seriously.

So.. This thread basically became a Joe Public v. Apple hearing. Interesting.

And for those who think Mac's are the shit, and/or PC's are the shit... Mac's suck for anything non-graphical or productivity related, and PC's can't handle graphics or video editing at all.

But there is a reason there are no Mac servers out there.

Either way, when Apple and Microsoft go down, the Penguin shall rule all..

Oh, that was something I was going to add to my big post. You do realize that if Apple failed, the competition would be gone and the only actual benefit PC's had above macs (the price) would cease to exist without Apple as a competitor and PC prices would go up because they could and they know people would still buy them because it was really the only option for a computer.

Anyways, back to the OP. Even tho any company failing is bad, if I had to choose...probably any infomercial item so the Oxy-clean and shamwow guys will finally shut the fuck up and stop yelling at people through the TV. Mainly for the Oxy-clean guy though..

Boy you really don't like getting pinned down.

I hate apple products (iPhone aside).. almost as much as people not making any kind of logical sense. Your insinuation that Apple is not being business smart when it's one of the few companies turning a (huge) profit in these economic times is a perfect illustration of how uniformed you really are. Open a newspaper or pay attention to the tech industry just a smidgen before you start rambling on with your nonsensical hate of Steve Jobs.
Uniformed?  You mean like these guys?

It's not little things.. it's nearly everything you wrote. You said Jobs was an idiot. When he returned in 1997 he turned them completely around. You've been claiming their failure in nearly every post. Whatever they are doing the result are certainly working in their favor. There is no speculation here. It's a fact.

Not once did you mention clones until imortal brought it up. You're telling Apple how to gain market share when they've been doing it for almost a decade now. Meanwhile MS is looking for ways to "reboot" itself. Which btw, I think Windows 7 is going a long way to right some wrongs.

@Bert, Apple doesn't outsource any of it's support do they? I heard that once. That could be a key to bringing the cost down.
I'll concede here.  I've already derailed this thread enough.  You make some good points.  I've also deleted a few of my posts to clean things up (besides most of what I posted was already quoted, so the flow still makes sense).
