My parents were born in the late 1940s. They are from the baby boomer generation. Coney Island and Nathans in the 50s. Seeing the greatest musical performances of their lives in the 60s. Seeing the world and doing lots of drugs in the 70s and 80s. Working for the man in the 80s and 90s Probably doing more drugs in the 00's.

What do you think was the greatest thing you gained as a child of your parents' due to the days that they lived through?

For me: Exposure to great music and a more intimate appreciation for the civil rights, women's rights, and hippie movements.

Dad was born in '58, Mom was born in '60. So they're both 60's-70's kids. And yes, both were major hippies.

We're all too lazy lol. My parents got to live through the 70s at the perfect age, so I think that helped them become the cool ass people that they are. I feel sorry for the kids whose parents were in their prime in the 80s.

i'd say the values that they had, and experienced as a culture.  Racism was getting less popular and women's rights were going up.  Although, we are a lot less disciplined than any other generation which i think = mega fail.

okay, here's your answer: not much.  they were born and lived in the philippines for 20 years so you can just imagine how much that makes a difference to me.

Their music tastes...without a doubt. Got my love of the Grateful Dead, Bruce Springsteen, Aerosmith, Bob Dylan and many, many others through them.

So their ages are very close, closer than most parents.

The greatest thing I gained from them is a taste in good music. I'm not sure if that's because of when they grew up, though. Yes, they like classic rock, but don't listen to it a whole lot, and they're not total hippies either. Probably the only thing from the 70s they really loved was Pink Floyd. They also liked Kraftwerk a little; they'd always play one of their albums from the 80s, and now they're one of my favorite bands ever and I am in love with electronic music.

Mine were born in '50s and '60s, but the average is 59. They do have quite a large gap in their ages, though.
