But that was 7 years ago so I dont even know if you can own AK's in Oregon anymore. In CA we have an assault weapons ban so you get caught with an AK, your FUCKED!

Moas gun stores should have some decent semi-autos in your price range. Just shop around a bit and you should be able to find what you're looking for.

I'd really recommend an AR-15, as the better rifle for most purposes. However, there are some decent Kalashnikov's out there. WASRs and Romanian AKs are fairly popular, but you'll probably get screwed on the price compared to a couple months ago. Demand is really high right now.
