With Windows 7, iirc, you SPECIFY to download all that software (like the Live product line, like Windows Mail? Im not sure though I dont use that shit)
That's just so they can finally stop getting sued for anti-trust for having their own programs included with the OS.

It'll be a pain in the arse for people that will buy a computer in two years and it won't even have an email client.

Unless of course they bundle Windows Live.

Oh wait.

You go through Windows Update, select it and download it

anyways the majority of people operate their email through a browser

and if its a cooperation running Windows 7, you got Microsoft Outlook

No. It's vista minus the epic fail that was vista.

W7 = epic
Vista = epicfail
XP = pretty cool
There's nothing wrong with Vista.
Yes there is. It BSOD'd every 2 hours or so for me, people tell my it's my "vista hating hardware" - but that same hardware works perfectly fine with a newer O/S - but if it was actually obsolete and vista was fine, then it should be just as bad. No. Vista is bad. It dies too much. XP and Windows 7 are good and don't crash/give compatibility errors/cry because you have old hardware.

tl;dr w7 > xp > vista

I found a direct MS link within seconds ... downloading it now, I already have Build 7000 and was pleasantly surprised by it.

Fairly easy to find direct download link:

Official 64-bit
http://download.microsoft.com/download/ … EN_DVD.ISO

Official 32-bit
http://download.microsoft.com/download/ … EN_DVD.iso

Official Registration/Download pages.. not working properly at the moment
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/eval … 53205.aspx
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/window … nload.aspx

Now, if only I could get an official Key for the installation, I'd be set...

theres many other small things like that, and maybe some large things too (havent heard about anything groundbreaking, though, then again I haven't looked into W7 all that much)

imo, I dont see any reason to upgrade to Windows 7 ASAP, but I probably will a while after its out, after the bugs are worked out and what not... I mean Vista works like a dream right now (Ultimate x64)... WAY better than XP IMO
Yeah, ill get it eventually, just not in any rush
VLite let's you do exactly that.  You strip down your Vista install DVD to just what you need - you can even make it fit on a CD if you're stingy enough.

Mine.

If you're getting BSOD's, then a piece of hardware is not stable and/or drivers are wrong. Perhaps you installed it with an overclock?

My Vista is perfectly stable, no problems at all. In fact, some programs that are prone to freezing in XP lock up the whole system, whereas when those programs freeze in Vista it does not lock up the whole system. My Vista starts faster, looks better, and has nearly the same in-game performance. I will admit that XP gives me a little bit better performance in games, but the difference isn't that great. Maybe 10-20 FPS.

So, sorry, you're just doing it wrong.

Yes, I know. 30 days, 120 with the "slmgr -rearm" workaround from MS.
Still, would prefer a full key good until Aug 1st.

*Update on Windows 7 Beta Availability
Due to very heavy traffic we’re seeing as a result of interest in the Windows 7 Beta, we are adding some additional infrastructure support to the Microsoft.com properties before we post the public beta. We want to ensure customers have the best possible experience when downloading the beta, and we will be updating this page once the beta goes live. Stay tuned! We are excited that you are excited!
Why is this surprising to them?

What's funny is that it's the registration key server/process that's puked.

The actual download servers hosting the 3.2GB ISO images are still working just fine.

No, MS apparently delayed putting out the Keys - citing 'demand related infrastructure issues'.

The previous beta allowed installation without a key, and functionality for 30 days - so, odds are good that this build is the same
