Holy fuck. I love BFG even more.

How can I break my 7600GT in a way they won't know I did it on purpose and hopefully get a better card back?

Remove some minimal surface-mounted resistor.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

What PSU is it? I'm leaning towards the mobo right now.

I'm sure that like me you don't, but would you happen to have a spare PSU lying around? Or have one in another computer that you can steal?

EDIT: What mobo is it? In fact better yet, post your full specs.

Me too.

But it's a weird one - a bad mobo, psu or cpu shouldn't cause the described symptoms - said symptoms point to it being video-card, monitor cable, or monitor related - but if they've been swapped out or shown to work on other systems it can't be them...

You do have any required additional power connector(s) plugged into the video card, don't you?

I believe the GTX260 requires two additional 6pin power connectors, thus:

If your PSU doesn't have the required plugs, you'll need two 2xMolex-to-1x6pin connector converters.

Yeah, got both of those plugged in. Same as my 8800.

Ah... now... I've just had a thought - maybe the PSU isn't providing the right voltage(s) on the extra video-card power connectors...

Check that with a multimeter... though, I'm not sure what pin should be at what level (should be in your video-card or psu manual somewhere though)...

I've just finished checking the PSU with a multimeter. Everything is fine.

It's the motherboard then...
