Anyone been able to successfully demand surrender?
I've clicked the button a few times, and it greys out as if it was accepted, but nothing happens. There was no popup to say it was refused...
You have to maintain siege for some rounds first, the round or two before the settlement will give up you can force surrender to save time, they will never surrender in the first round ...
Haven't gotten to play as much as I liked the first weekend but I have crushed the French, The Pirates, Wurtemburg, Preusia, Savoy, Irquiose and Spain in Grand Campaign as the English ... cashflow is steady and trade with the "evil" Moslims yields great income ...
Hot damn what a great game
Hints*Be sure to check your ministers, a bad minister can cost you a lot of money ... every so often you boot a bad minister and replace him with a new and hopefully better one ...
*Be sure your trade routes are open, a blocked port or a leech scimming your route can also cost you heaps of income or entire stop you trade income.
*Be aware of the red lines at sea, placing a vessel on a red line lets you scim your enemies trade ... hover the line to check who trades how much ... nifty for a few bucks
*Fire lines ... keep your infantry at max two lines for max firepower, line 3 and 4 will never fire ... prolly old news for experienced players
*Cannons ... normal mode at longe range but be sure to switch for cannister shot for short range, cannister shots totally wipes out an enemy platoon at short range ...
*Keep happiness at a high level, happiness lets the tax manager charge more ... research and happiness buildings are vital when you later play at hard ... keep your provinces at yellow as minimum ...
*Cash is King
