Update: Patch 1.5 canceled. due to "some" projects.
***************************************
With the crisis going on and EA's Stunning 641 Million loss they have decided to bring 2 projects up.
Bf1943
BC:2
Bf1943 is a good example of a Rush and collect (as manny $$ as possible) because;
* It's has the chance of being a concole port to pc
* It's has 3 maps? wat?
* It's on alle the platforms
* The console spec's are only announced (because a online bf game with 24 players issnt going to work on a big fucking map like wake)
And one point !
*Where is bf2's 1.5 patch, gone or something? rather disturbing, because Heroes is still not RELEASED and they are happy to announce 2 more projects
Finishing Heroes
Bf1943
BC 2
Patch 1.5?
All in with 1 game studio, seriously is this going to work?
"This is the result of a company with shareholders that now are rather poor than ritch and awnser to you "excuse me what is Sims? is it a cardgame?"
"This is based on limited info so dont bash me."
It's not coming out, so get over it. EA has moved on to new games they can make money off of.
indeed everyone should stop posting, close every board except EE.SgtHeihn wrote:

DICE is making the new games and is going to release the 1.5 patch... they have 400+ employees and are working very hard to complete and have EA distribute the new titles and patch...
Love is the answer

Just business wise, EA/DICE are focusing on things that will make them money. IE, new games. Anything dealing with a old game(BF2) is going to take the far back burner. You have to look at it this way, they have already got your money, you are not a shareholder so they have no loyalty to you.[TUF]Catbox wrote:

50 per section if they were all equal, which they won't be. Some design teams are only like 90 people. You don't need thousands to build a number of games.
Ok i've been convinced but, will it be epic or epic fail.M.O.A.B wrote:

Because the concept like BF:1943 has great potential.
But I have a gut feeling like it's going to be rushed.
It is probably broken down like this:
400 employees
New titles - 390 people
old titles - 10 people (which also double as cleaning staff and coffee gofers)
Don't get me wrong, I would reinstall BF2 if a new patch came out, but in this economic climate, businesses are focused on making money.

* Coffee pot has been fixed. It works now with 1 extra option "cappuchino".
/end
lol
I dunno, the trailer looks pretty good and its early days. The frostbite engine is a good one, good physics, good gfx and if they use the same sound quality from BFBC then that'll be awsm as well. It looks like it'll provide some good entertaining gameplay.GateKeeper{NL} wrote:

True, lets hope they really listen to the public now.M.O.A.B wrote:

The BF2 patch team is and has been 2 guys. 2/400, not that much. Also 1943 and BC2 won't that all DICE's manpower as DICE have already made 2 games with the Frostbite engine, so it's not like they are doing something new.GateKeeper{NL} wrote:

Mainly
While I do that the programmer is hard at work getting the updates to build properly.
So, how many software engineers does it take to write a software patch? Not many. The company I work for provides software solutions to the Military. We build tactical data links onboard our Submarines, Amphib ships, Mine Hunters, helicopters etc and our software team comprises 5 guys.
1 or 2 half decent software engineers should be able to work on a BF2 patch easily.

The patch must have 3 people at minimum then.
The third one being the coffee gopher, who also needs to clean up the piss and crap from the programmers seat.

Better not have fucking cancelled it.
Much of the resource required to successfully release a patch = testers. You can pay two programmers £25-30k each, but without loads of testers (bear in mind BF2 is a 64 player game!) it's got fail written all over it. I.e. it is usually not the case of "pay a couple of programmers and that's it".
