who doesn't?

and to be honest, CoD4 was a huge disappointment, so if they rush out another game to capitalize on the popularity of CoD4 it will probably be even worse, but still sell billions.

What? I only cross the street if my destination is on the other side. I won't buy another CoD game after playing that horrid CoD3.

CoD4 was Spoiler (highlight to read):
good
But it was only Spoiler (highlight to read):
good because they finally went from WW2 to Modern.
Now that they have gone from WW2 to Modern to WW2 then back to Modern it seems like they can't make up their minds.
But whats really happening is them trying to find out which war makes more money.

CoD4 was pretty good though

I mean cmon guys. This could be to CoD4 what BF2 was to Desert Combat. Desert Combat was modern war, as was BF2... but BF2 executed it even better.

afaik they were working on it while cod4 was being worked on, but yeah, it's success was entirely due to cod4.

GS: After Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare made the leap to modern combat, it was somewhat of a surprise to learn that you were taking the franchise back to the World War II setting. What was your inspiration for this blast-from-the-past decision?

CS: Treyarch actually starting [working on] Call of Duty: World at War a year before Modern Warfare hit the shelves. I doubt that many people would have been very surprised back then, since all the titles in the COD series up to that point were set in WWII. So we set out to create the best of that genre. As surprises go, I think you will like this one.

sorry.  i just have to poke in.  they worked on it "a year before MW hit the shelves."  not a year before development of MW started.  development of MW was probably already a year ahead of them.

I think the point trying to be reached hear is that MW is the prime factor in W@W's success.

I enjoyed CoD4's SP, but I never got into the MP.

Maybe it'll change this time around.

I'll reserve judgement until I actually see screenshots/a trailer though.

Heres exactly how the game will be:
It will be Call of Duty 4 with an optimized engine.
It will have new maps; but the favorites will be rehashes of old maps.
It will have new guns; but everyone will use the guns that were good in CoD4.
It will have new perks; but everyone will still use 3x Nade, Juggernaut, and Martyr.

New Campaign, but no one I know played CoD4 just for the campaign.

Also: Nades will still be over powered.
Campaign will not have the same awe factor as CoD4, i.e. the YOU GOT HIT BY A NUKE AND YOU ARE DYING level.

Which is why WaW was based of the same game engine that had already been built for MW.
