My sister's boyfriend got her a fancy keyboard for Christmas and had it mailed to our home. Amazon didn't put it in a box. They just slapped a sticker on the outside of the keyboard box and sent it through the mail. Unacceptable.
When you order something on Amazon it lets the buyer know whether it is shipping in the original packaging or if it's overpacked in Amazon packaging. If it is shipping in its original packaging, Amazon gives you the option to have them overpack it.
BFs fault, not Amazon

I have never seen this option on Amazon. Amazon recently sent a $200 hard drive to me in a cheap wrapper. I am inclined to think the issue is with Amazon.
Maybe it's only around Christmas. I was gonna post a pic but its too much of a hassle.
It would probably make sense to buy a new car about now, put some money in the economy etc.
But my car is practically worthless so the depreciation cost to keep going with it is about zero, and there's not much that jumps out at me as a car I really want. A used Liberty or Outback would be first pick.
Maybe I'll treat it to some new shock absorbers and bushings, some crazy could write it off for me tomorrow.
In other news I've discussed it with a few people and there seems to be a spike in anti-social driving and road rage. Maybe the economy is biting and people can't afford their truck repayments, maybe a strong batch of meth came in, maybe the meth ship didn't come in, whatever it is there's something going on.
Also a spike in furniture dumped outside houses, I'm guessing people aren't keeping up with their rents.

I'm waiting for all the people who spent their covid checks on new cars to stop making payments, then I'm gonna pick up a 2021 suburu with like 5k miles for $10k off sticker.
This is very true. Every time there is a stimulus or cash for clunkers type of thing, low income and people with bad credit use the money as down payments on cars then are unable to make payments on them. Cash for clunkers! What a memory. I got a set of new tires with rims from a car that was getting cash for clunkered back in 2010 or whatever.KEN-JENNINGS wrote:

My dream is to never have to drive a car.
Trouble with taking a car off an angry rube is there's a good chance they'll trash it before handing it in.
I don't want to be driving a car thats just fucked enough to be annoying but not fucked enough for the dealer to have to take it back or fix it.
I'm not even keen on dealer company cars/demonstrators. I was happy buying cars for ~$2000, if it was OK great, if not and it lasted a year it was still great.

It's a catch-22 with cars. It doesn't make financial sense really to buy them new, and I'm not trying to impress anyone by buying a fancy ride that will be expensive to maintain and depreciate like mad. But if I bought it used, I'd want to buy it from someone like me who takes care of it. The problem with that is that someone like me will also likely drive it into the ground before selling it.
I have heard that a lot of higher income people lease nicer cars instead of buying them. The lease payment is just factored into their monthly expenses like anything else. They aren't stuck with an asset that will depreciate or costly long term maintenance.
They're still really paying for the depreciation and maintenance.
The trick is to have a business and run it all through that.

I bought my brother an Oculus Quest 2 for Christmas, and we've been playing Eleven Table Tennis together (It has cross play with PCVR, I play on my Valve Index).
If anyone hasn't tried VR yet I'd highly recommend it.

Let me teach you to play Magic the Gathering
I fucked around with D&D a few times in my childhood and late teens/early 20s. You all know I'm not a fan of fantasy world-building at all but I enjoyed some of the times I played. It really comes down to the DM.
Probably spent more time collecting and painting the figures TBH, still fun times.
I think I have some classic Ral Parthas.

Some shooting shoes, really hoping they fit as ordering trainers over the internet is not something I normally do, and I have wide feet so trainers rarely fit.
Not sure if I should buy an original iris compass ($163) or the cheap knockoff ($30), either way its pretty cool and a lot cheaper than my sister's haircuts so I can't feel guilty.
Its metric so obviously Americans aren't going to understand it.
There's also a pencil sharpener for hipsters

Oh that's really interesting gear--what are the jackets that the rifle shooters are wearing? It looks like it could be some sort of ammo carrying system?

That's nuts, not like Olympics level or anything, but I didn't show up to gun ranges in the US in any of that kit and didn't see it either. If you want special shoes for something here I guess go bowling or skating.
Also I can understand metric just fine.

Thats what international competition looks like, in rifle you can wear stiff trousers and jackets, ankle boots, plus a sling, which all provide a substantial amount of support.unnamednewbie13 wrote:

In pistol no support of any kind is allowed. Really rifle should ditch the specialist clothing.
