The religion of peace stri.......  oh wait, they didn't kill the bitch for not marrying him, he didn't just rape her so she would get stoned to death?  This guy must be a noob to the religion or something, he doesn't have to put up with shit from a woman.

WTF is up with Islam and Acid these days?

What is up with your perception of the world these days?

Is it also linked to acid, of a different kind?

You're totally ball-trippin' on Islam dude!

If good Christians can break one of the Commandments in order to serve a legal principle that is entirely in the moral/religious grey area, then you should leave the Islam-bashing and religious implications outta this!

The story is about Islamic Law being followed.  But I will throw you a bone to make you feel better.

Christianity as followed in the US has historically allowed for the killing of people convicted of crimes.

There, it has nothing to do with the story but should make you warm and fuzzy inside.

I agree with it, if you're a nasty enough git and you do that to someone then why not have it done back to you.

Even if the other person is a woman or an infidel?

Yes.

It's like over here, Guys get much harsher sentences for doing things than if the the woman had done them.

Also, take divorce for example, in the majority of cases the judge rules that the kids stay with the mother. When my paren'ts broke up I had to stay with my mum untill I was old enough to move out and in with my old man. The man also has to pay money to the mother, even if she is working.

It's not justice, it's government enforced revenge.

The Iranian legal system really is shocking.

Personally, for violent crime, I support a justice system that just determines guilt or innocence and the victim gets first dibs to dole out the punishment.

At least most of the capital punishment fanboys are being consistent in this thread. I am quite conservative and hardline on the issue of crime and punishment but I always worry about sentences that are irreversible, I'd want to be 100% certain of the accused being actually guilty... were there any eye witnesses!? Ha ha, get it? ...booooom booooom!

Good points...  we don't exactly have gender equality in our law system anymore than the Iranians do, but it's in the opposite direction.

In Iran, women are treated like shit.  In America, a woman's word is basically taken over a man's.

Neither arrangement is very fair.

Good sentence, this kind of punishment should be used more often, an eye for an eye. YATZY!

I can tell you this...acid in combination with eyes is really really fucking painful....I had an accident at my work 10 years ago where I got 80 degreees celsius industrial lye all over my upper body, head and into one of my eyes....that kinda stung a bit and left some marks.

Fucking genious sentance for once in Sharia laws, as previously stated, for once they actually "helped" a woman.

Revenge would imply going after a punishment more harsh than the crime itself. Anything equal or less is not revenge. And anything less is pussified.

I kind of expected the woman to be punished for something she did to cause this. Perhaps a honor killing.

In terms of Christianity, the eye for an eye thing is outdated and from the old testament. Christ advocated turning the other cheek if I recall correctly. The entire reason that he was hailed as a great leader and role model was his progressive morality. If you throw that away he's just another Jew.

Thou shalt not murder, actually.  The Hebrew word for kill is not used.

Court Orders Iranian Man Blinded

A court in Iran has ruled that a man who blinded a woman with acid after she spurned his marriage proposals will also be blinded with acid. The ruling was reported in Iranian newspapers on Thursday. The punishment is legal under the Islamic Sharia code of qias or equivalence, which allows retribution for violent crimes. The court also ordered the attacker, 27-year-old Majid Movahedi, to pay compensation to the victim. The ruling was a response to her plea to the court in the Iranian capital Tehran for retribution.

I read this and thought it seemed like the kind of thing lowing might agree with. What do you reckon guys?
So not only does she ruin his marriage but he has to pay her money, because she lost an eye, but also he lost an eye too.

why the compensation part !?

They didn't get the death penalty here.
