Has anyone here done it? (successfully or not)

It seems it's not uncommon at all for professors/bosses/etc to ask you to draft a recommendation that they just read over and sign off. Im in an undgrad course, applying for internships (in engineering, if that helps) and I asked my personal tutor for a recommendation and now I'm in the process of effectively praising my own abilities.

Apart from being majorly awkward, I don't know to what extent I should highlight my strengths and weaknesses. What can't I talk about? for example, if i know where my overall grade is relative to others, would it be OK to mention this?

any random advice would be helpful.

Yeah do it all the time when i go for appraisals at work.  Just write your motivated, good teamworker, good time management, excellent work ethic blah blah and provide an example when/where you did it.  You may have to write in the third person which makes the whole experience a bit more odd.

To be honest get used to it, this wont be the last time when you'll have to do it.
