Thats awesome but how can it distinguish from a friendly sniper/ginfire from enemy fire? like say a friendly 200m away fires 1 shot from his 7.62x51mm rifle the thing tell you sniper and you squad opens fire or is it calsulated to only hear 7.62x39 and 7.64x54mm?

Won't be effective when you're lying dead on the floor after the first shot.

"The system, which weighs less than 6oz, is so sensitive it can tell the difference between outgoing friendly fire and incoming enemy fire and can distinguish a sniper even in a gun battle.

It also works when the soldier is travelling at up to 50 mph on a vehicle."

For £2, 500 that is brilliant.

Only problem I would see with something apparently that acute to sound, is when the sniper hits soldiers within a building, and the sound bounces of the walls or even on the streets and you get the sound bounce back between walls. That could give the wrong position, in the open I think it would be very accurate though.
