During this "lame duck" period alot can happen.  Obama is president-elect, but has no authority yet.  This weekend he will renounce his Senate-ship.

Until he is sworn in he's not president and has no power until then.  He can't make any policy, he can't change any laws, he can't even change what they serve in the White House for dinner.

At least this transition between administrations wasn't as bad as the one in 2000.

You clearly haven't been watching ObamaTV (aka MSNBC).

Seriously...they don't even pretend to have objectivity any longer. Watching MSNBC is like watching an Obama "Change" infomercial.

He hasn't promised to anyone that he can change anything during the lame duck session. It's not like he's breaking an election promise. LOL

Wasn't it the Republicans who removed the fairness doctrine?

'In June 1987, Congress had attempted to preempt the FCC decision and codify the Fairness Doctrine [12], but the legislation was vetoed by President Ronald Reagan. Another attempt to revive the doctrine in 1991 was stopped when President George H.W. Bush threatened another veto.'

Who's talking about the fairness doctrine? I'm talking about journalistic integrity. Based on what MSNBC is broadcasting, Fox News looks like BBC in comparison.

Please define that and explain how MSNBC are breaching it.

They're just excited that soon, assuming the snipers miss, there won't be an aggressive redneck in the White House.

You'd think after 8 years MSNBC are just glad to be reporting about someone other than Bush and the great headlines he's managed to produce thus far.

That's just your opinion because you don't like their angle... it's called subjectivity!

I'm sure lefties hate FOX just as much as you hate MSNBC. As Dilbert has pointed out, politicians have pushed for a code of standards bill before but the Republicans were having none of it so I'm afraid you'll have to dry your eyes on this issue.

I don't have to...someone else already did. Does your search function not work? Or are you still looking for that elusive "ANY" key?

Here's specifically where they (and others) are breaching it:

Objectivity

    * Unequivocal separation between news and opinion. Editorials and op-eds are clearly separated from news pieces. News reporters and editorial staff are distinct.
    * Unequivocal separation between advertisements and news. All advertisements must be clearly identifiable as such.
    * Reporter must avoid conflicts of interests—incentives to report a story with a given slant. This includes not taking bribes and not reporting on stories that affect the reporter's personal, economic or political interests. See envelope journalism.
    * Competing points of view are balanced and fairly characterized.
    * Persons who are the subject of adverse news stories are allowed a reasonable opportunity to respond to the adverse information before the story is published or broadcast.
    * Interference with reporting by any entity, including censorship, must be disclosed.
There's more, but that serves well enough for now.

But supposedly Fox News wasn't "real journalism" but MSNBC is. Sounds awful double-standardy to me.

I'm not crying...just pointing out the ridiculous (and recent) overt changes in MSNBC's broadcast philosophy. I have nothing against their angle, per se...particularly since I didn't watch them before and I certainly won't start now.

Spoiler (highlight to read):
btw, your brother got (and posted) independent confirmation that MSNBC is more biased than FNC.

And what the politicians (on the left) have pushed for is not a "code of standards"...they have pushed for forcing broadcast stations to air an equal amount of opposing programming--whether the market or business model supports it or not.

That is a violation of the First Amendment of the US Constitution (that would be the "freedom of the press" part).

"Obama will get shot before he's sworn in."

Very ill advised statement.

(psstt - consider packing a bag left beside your escape window bedsheet;  hurry now, I hear footsteps in the hall ... seems to be several well dressed gentlemen.  Shall I let them in for you ?)

Oh, I see you're from Krudistan ... never mind.  But then, since Krudistan literally tripped all over themselves about Obama, perhaps you'll still be seen as a potential threat ... quick, hit the window !
