Nobody thinks about this little country until bam, the banking crises hits them. Then we realise, these guys, we needed them.

Especially us in the UK. Not only were there quite a few people who had money in some failed Icelandic bank accounts. Even our local government (councils) had money in them. And quite a fucking lot. What's worse is that the UK Gov is making sure that the individuals money will be safe, but they can't do the same thing for the Councils.

Oh yeah, there's more. Apparently now, there's abit of a bicker going on between the UK gov and Iceland

Prime Minister Gordon Brown has condemned Iceland's handling of the collapse of its banks and its failure to guarantee British savers' deposits.

Mr Brown said it was "effectively illegal" and "completely unacceptable".

He said Iceland's regulators had failed "not only the people of Iceland, they have failed people in Britain".

But, out of everything. This is what takes the cake. This is what pissed me off the most:

Iceland's prime minister Geir Haarde said it was "not pleasant" to learn that anti-terror laws were used to freeze Iceland firms' assets in the UK.

We're using fucking terrorist laws to get our own back. Yeah, give the government an inch and they'll take a mile. And they want to increase detention to like 42 days, hmm, somehow I don't think that they're going to stick to their word and say "don't worry, it's only for terrorists"

This whole thing is gay.

Then again, the UK's relationship with Iceland has always been frosty (lolpun)

Yeah, we are fucked here, our congress recently signed a bill that basically gave the government executive powers to all the banks.

Luckily the government bought 75% of the bank I have my money in before it broke down.
