lol

Pretty desperate sounding.

Obama and Ayers were not close, "much less 'pals'."
He and Obama live in Chicago's Hyde Park neighborhood and served together on the board of the Woods Fund, a Chicago-based charity that develops community groups to help the poor. Obama left the board in December 2002, and he has denounced Ayers' past activities.
He doesn't exactly sound like his pal from the article.

And this is just hilarious:
"Some of his comments that he has made about the war that I think may -- in my world -- disqualifies someone from consideration as the next commander in chief," Palin told FOX News. "Some of his comments about Afghanistan and what we are doing there, supposedly just air-raiding villages and killing civilians. That's reckless."

She was referring to Obama's remarks last summer about Afghanistan in which he said: "We've got to get the job done there and that requires us to have enough troops that we're not just air-raiding villages and killing civilians which is causing enormous problems there."
I can't even see what she's talking about there. It's just nonsensical. Obamas view seems to make perfect sense (though how financially viable it is could be another story entirely). I can't even see what Palins view is. Is she in denial about the fact that US approval ratings in Afghanistan are well known to be plummeting due to a number of high profile incidents where a large number of civilians have been killed by US air raids and such like (below is one such example)?

BBC in July wrote:

An Afghan parliamentary investigation has found that a US airstrike on Sunday in the eastern province of Nangarhar killed 47 civilians.

She's getting desperate. I think that sort of negative campaigning during these times will only backlash. Then again, I'm no campaign expert and I have no idea what most people in the US, who haven't decided who they're going to vote for yet, are like. Something tells me that the people who are undecided yet, won't exactly fall for things like this.

I think when it comes to elections, most people are pretty much already decided on who they're going to vote for, before the debates and all that crap. Most of this doesn't even make much of a difference. It's just news for people who have already decided on who they're going to vote for.

It's almost as if it's a non-story. Same about Palin and her charity work.

I'm surprised more of this sort of stuff hasn't emerged ... the Republicans have been fairly mild this year with the mud.

Maybe they are waiting to push it late. It just depresses me how many people actually believe the slander they dole out.

because its the truth?  the guys group bombed the pentagon and the capital.  and in 2001 said they should have done more.  this is the guy whom obama served with in lovely south chicago.  they were on the board together and obama launched his career from his house.  oh sorry, those are facts.  my bad.

And yet you've never jumped on McCain for his affiliations with John Hagee and Rod Parsley. Funny.

They're not terrorists, sure...but what they say and preach is some of the worst shit I've ever heard in my entire life.
Palin cited an article in Saturday's New York Times about Obama's relationship with Ayers, now 63. But that article concluded that "the two men do not appear to have been close. Nor has Mr. Obama ever expressed sympathy for the radical views and actions of Mr. Ayers, whom he has called 'somebody who engaged in detestable acts 40 years ago, when I was 8.' "

Several other publications, including the Washington Post, Time magazine, the Chicago Sun-Times, The New Yorker and The New Republic, have debunked the idea that Obama and Ayers had a close relationship. Video Watch CNN's Truth Squad examine Palin claims »

Riot and bomb conspiracy charges against Ayers were dropped in 1974, and he is now a professor of education at the University of Illinois in Chicago.

Don't forget the state-by-states which are more important (and are a larger gap atm):

If NC goes blue I'll be very surprised though. It's currently in Obama's favor by 3 points though, so says Rasmussen.

Wow, this is pathetic. She distorted Biden's statements, and made a statement designed entirely to exploit irrational subconscious associations. Why don't we hear something substantial out of this travesty? Oh right, she can't think.

Because you can't talk about Al Quaeda without talking about Iraq...and you can't talk about 9/11 without also talking about Saddam Hussein...

Very good picture, I like it.

My comment though, was referring to how 'terrorist' is ingrained into the heads of so many people as something bad, regardless of any other circumstance or any other factor. Her description of Obama's "friend" as a domestic terrorist was clearly designed to exploit this irrationality. (Although, you are entirely correct in an observation of Republican debating style/rhetoric.)

Now i knew Palin was into hunting. but now it seems shes into fishing as well. that has to be one of the worst supported statements. i mean the articles she uses for her point say the opposite of what she's saying? nice.

It's called the "pooflinger" tactic.  You basically run out of options, so you start throwing shit at the wall to see what sticks.  Most of it isn't expected to go anywhere, but if they keep tossing the shit, there is a good % chance they find something that resonates with the indies.

The problem is that Clinton already used the "pooflinger option" during the primary season, so most of the talking points with any realistic basis are already countered or debunked.  The fundie base already thinks Obama's the anti-christ, there isn't much more you can tell them...they need to find something a little more universal.

I doubt that she writes one word of her speeches herself... But is sure makes clear that, when she gets into the White House, and eventually becomes the President, other people will run the country just the same as the neocons run the country for the last 8 years.
