Shipping wasnt always this bad, back in the day we were instructed to repel would be boarders with a firehose, now I believe, all people in these areas post watches with firearms, even on merchant ships

Well by the time they start to rolling with the tank, its gonna hit dead end. Give them rocketlaunchers and the attackboats wont really bother anymore when they see one boat light the sky up. Hope they find them.

How does that make sense. If you give them the $5m, you'd get the ship and the passengers/tanks/vessel back.

Anyway don't get me started with this whole negotiating with terrorists/pirates/criminals and all that crap.

The only two navies in that area that are big enough to sort out the problem is the USN and the Indian navy. You could probably destroy these pirates pretty quickly if someone really wanted to. I mean it's much more like conventional warfare taking these guys out than it would be taking out land guerrilla groups and shit, who hide among the population. Out in the sea, you can't really hide anywhere.

True. Get the ship and tanks and most importantly crewmembers back, then blow the pirates sky high >_>

And mek for all you know they have the crew scattered throughout the ship, pirates watching over each one. Probably in 'choke points' as it were, meaning only one doorway into where they're hiding. So if rescuers raided the ship, the pirates would have easy shots or would just kill the hostages.

Sometimes I just want to facepalm at these ships getting hijacked by pirates. You fucking know the waters are infested, you know that lots of ships just like yours get hijacked. Yet, you still go in there without sufficient protection to defend yourself, and then you get hijacked.

I mean for fuck sake...

You can't go through life with that "surely it won't be me" attitude.

Just put me onboard one of those ships with my M16A2, Para ordanance M1911A1 Custom .45, 2 grenades, a clay, a few dozen tocas, burriots, pizzas, cokes, hamburgers, and my wierd looking improvised military outfit and they'll never think of hitting a boat again. They'll be thinking "Is he on this one...will I be next?" All I demand is 9$ an hour.

Or just mount a TOW on the ships and blow the pirats sky high when they wana come. You can see them coming from miles away in the sea.

Anyone else notice that another tanker has been siezed since the tank incident? If you have ever seen a tanker, you will notice the very large sign on the house that reads, NO SMOKING. That is because the slightest sparks on deck could ignite an explosion. I dont know about you guys, but if some dude with an rpg that could blow me all to hell I'd surrender too.

These boats Need some long range snipers or bow and stern mounted 50 cals so you can pop em before they get into rpg range. I know US Merchant mariner officers expected to go overseas and what not can go to small arms training classes usually paid for by the company or the union. Im not sure what other countries are doing to protect their vessels but from the looks of it, they arent doing very much
