I almost agree with you. But the hotel-point is from view not that unimportant as you think it is. If the UMSC troops capturing the square, they get a 2 front-conflict (market and hotel - maybe the suburb to). Fighting on two fronts can never help to win a battle soon. All USMC troops need to spawn at square as fast as possible because my experience in over 300 hours fighting on Karkand showed me, that MEC will fight hard and smart to getting the square back pretty fast. Rember that you can better fight as USMC when you'll be able to spawn at the hotel with a protecting Tank and APC on the rouds. You have much more objects and places to cover and no need to sprint that long to the next point - the square.xaven wrote:

If the USMC Team is fighting smart, not even the T90 or an enemy artillerie strike will stop you to get the hotel in under 5 minutes. I count 6 ways to infiltrating the hotel. It's a hard work for MEC to hold the hotel. If they can hold it long enough, not even the losing of the gatehouse will bother them.
To the topic: Strike at Karkand is my most liked map, because you'll only win with good tactics and infantry fights. A good Tank driver or Tank Whore is not able to win this battle but very helpfull to support you. No jet bombs will fall on your head only a arty-strike or a supply crate will if your lucky enough.

How about fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck you. I do hate getting raped from the air on Oman, Wake, etc. That's why I never play there. It's not that I couldn't learn to fly a chopper or plane well, I'm just not interested in it (look at my vehicle times). That's why I have Microsoft Flight Simulator. The problem I have with the maps is that there are a whole bunch of maps that are great for planes and helos and 3 that are great for infantry (and a few that are just worthless but we won't go there). I think it's safe to say that most people prefer to play infantry maps so why the disparity? I normally don't come and bitch about this, I just avoid those maps. For the record, my favorite map is Sharqi, not Karkand; it just seems like all people ever want to do is play Karkand.polarbearz wrote:

key flaw in karkand hating:
if you design a map where one team starts out losing tickets and the other team holds all the flags and can spawn anywhere than the designers MUST design it so the first flag is easy to cap and vunerable to attack. Otherwise the map is pretty stupid.
Here's the real problem: The entire MEC team spawns at hotel and tries to prevent it from being capped.
Spawn camping only makes sense by the way. I guess if you only play karkand and you are an idiot that always spawns at the hotel when MEC then you could get tired of it after a while, even knowing how much sense spawn camping makes and how it's absurd to want a team to do anything else. But if you are one of those lil babies that think there's something wrong with it you perhaps should read one of the many threads that dismantle that notion. Could lead to you becoming a better gamer that enjoys yourself more - rather than one of those people that sucks and uses a style of play that is ineffective and wants everyone else and the developers to change so that your style becomes good.
