John McCain asked the Presidential Debate Commission on Wednesday to postpone Friday’s scheduled debate with Barack Obama so that he can work on the financial crisis bailout plan now on Capitol Hill.

Lmao!  My thoughts exactly, I was half expecting a link to, ''McCain catches glimpse of Palins underwear and passes out''.

And what is this deal about keeping some of these details secret?

Don’t come back, Reid tells McCain.
http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch … ccain.html
“This is a critical time for our country,” says the Reid statement. “While I appreciate that both candidates have signaled their willingness to help, Congress and the Administration have a process in place to reach a solution to this unprecedented financial crisis. I understand that the candidates are putting together a joint statement at Senator Obama’s suggestion. But it would not be helpful at this time to have them come back during these negotiations and risk injecting presidential politics into this process or distract important talks about the future of our nation’s economy. If that changes, we will call upon them. We need leadership; not a campaign photo op. If there were ever a time for both candidates to hold a debate before the American people about this serious challenge, it is now.”

Unless he will fork up the billions of dollars needed for the bailout, he should quit is "noble" stance as nobody is buying it.

although I believe McCain cares about what is going on I think this is all about him trying to look good by releasing this.  I agree with the quote above.

Please, if it were so, he should have been in Congress the whole time instead of campaigning (same with Obama).  Truth is he is not needed, so he should quit being such a douche and debate.

Its a cop out. Say what you want. A ploy that works on people like you. And the debate will be a thrashing. I'd postpone too. Maybe he wants to postpone the election too.

How serious can you get with one sentence?  You don't even know what you talk about - you just repeat what you hear.

right.

Republican Sen. John McCain kicked off the latest phase of the presidential race Wednesday by challenging Sen. Barack Obama to a series of town hall-type debates.
"I propose these town hall meetings be as free from the regimented trappings, rules and spectacle of formal debates as possible," McCain said in a letter to Obama, sent the morning after the Illinois senator clinched the Democratic presidential nomination.
