Best anti virus software?

i recently got a brand spanking new computer but forgot to get anti virus software, which do you's reccommend to get? spending around £45

Well it certainly isn't CA.

I, starting from last week, will never recommend CA to a living soul ever again (not that I recommended it to begin with).

Kaperky, ESET (Nod32). AVG does surprisingly well compared to pay-fors.

I use AVG. Does the job. The best way is still to not do stupid things on the internet that will get you viruses/spyware and all that crap.

ditto. I turned off all resident shield / scanner functions and removed it from startup. If I download a file from a shady source I'll just manually scan

Used Kaspersky for 2 years, can't recommend it enough.

AVG is crap. The only reason its so popular is its free, and catches a decent amount of virus'.

AVG is pretty damn good if you pay for it. Haven't got a single virus on my system since I got it, it has caught every single one and even warns of webpages that are phishing sites.

I'm using Webroot Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware. Works for me, and it's compatible with Vista 64-bit now.

None of those annoying popup messages all the time that get in your face, just a simple notification telling you it dealt with the threat. Norton felt like it took over my computer, and it still failed at catching viruses.

I just use Zonealarm Security Suite (Firewall/antispyware/antivirus) cause I'm too lazy to install anything else, and cause I cbf with any other programs running.

I liked ZoneAlarm, but I had to uninstall it for some reason.

I forgot why..
