Another reason I found the whole thing hilarious. His topic about the american election is addressed to non-americans specifically.
See that is supposed to pre-emt any damn AMERICANS trollin up his topic with comments like yours.

I figured that if Palin became president the US would end up being run by committee like during the Regan and G.W. 'presidency's'.

She's stand infront of the cameras and repeat the policies that she'd just been told.

What has Iraq or Afghanistan got to do with your country? Worry about your own damn country!
What has Venezuela - where you get a sizeable chunk of your oil supply from - got to do with your country? Worry about your own damn country!
What has China got to do with your country? Worry about your own damn country!

ftr Matt Damon is a self-important cunt. But he makes extremely valid points in that clip which you can choose to stick your head in the sand over if you must.

I'm not really concerned about her domestic policy. As a foreigner all I am really concerned about is her foreign policy and her policy on matters affecting the rest of the world.

Well, since the OP asked for the opinion of Europeans, I just might throw in my two cents.
I don't have any hope that anyone of you will read my post, because I saw that the first on-topic post was on page 4, while all other posts were of Americans, feeling offended and attacking the OP.

My opinion is that the US really chooses their own fate in this election. When electing McCain/Palin, this will probably lead to  growing distance between Europe and the US. If that is your wish, fine, but you can't expect any economical help like you're wanting right now from Europe. I could imagine the political relations growing even worse if Palin becomes president, because of the issues the OP is listing.
If the election will be won by the Democrats (while being not much different than the Republicans), the relationship between Europe and the US might become a little better, which will give the US the opportunity to keep an important economical and political partner.

Europe probably will be able to keep it's standards by shifting trade over to eastern countrys. I don't think that we are dependant on the friendship to America. It sure will take a while to accomodate to the changing political climate, but it will be possible.

I pretty much agree with Cam in every way. Before Palin was thrown in the picture i was divided i wouldnt mind either Obama/Biden or McCain/? but i must say everything i have seen gathered about her doesnt comfort me. It will sure be interesting on the other hand if McCain dies early after election and Palin in charge. Seeing her heads up versus Putin and the other hot shots would be very interesting to see.

Am I still nervous about the election though? You bet.
Barely leading, I think he is around 45% to McCains 40%

5 points is still 5 points.

Expect for that lead to jump a bit more after friday.
ABC news had it within the margin of error last night.

In case you haven't noticed after WWII the USA has been sticking its nose in the private matters of every other country on earth by rigging elections, creating coups, empowering dictators etc - the list goes on and on. So yes, this is a topic about American elections addressed to non-Americans (Americans can intervene though, I'm sure ). Because your presidents' foreign policy is more important than the decisions made by the puppet governments of smaller nations like mine for example.

As for what Matt Damon's opinion, you all seem to know shit about him that I ignore, apparently. But instead of being sarcastic, why don't you try refuting?

lol. Haven't quite realised that Israel is part of a GLOBAL economy yet, eh? I take it you also believe that OPEC has ZERO impact on the price of fuel in your country? The hilarity of playing down the impact on Israel of the country that supplies you with a ridiculous level of aid is colossal. I suppose you export goods to fairyland and import them from the netherworld...

lol @ the thought of Israel being fine no matter what happens.

Once again, a hot dog vendor in Chicago has more skill and knowledge of how Americans are than a mayor of a 5k person town in Alaska.
Alaska is only in the US to create a barrier between us and Russia and for natural resources.  Other than that, I guarantee DC doesn't give a shit about Alaska.

People talk about Obama losing his luster as of lately, and it's true.  He's not quite the goldenboy that he was even months ago.  But Palin's luster has worn off so quickly, partly due to the fact that there was none, other than the facade the rep. put up about her.  Palin reminds me of all the women in America who have learned that if they are pretty, they get what they want.  I hate those women.  And you should too...

Cam, you completely deserve your opinion in the matter.  Because before any of us are American, or Irish, or Yugoslavian, or whatever, we are citizens of the World.  The World should always be held more importantly than any one nation, IMHO.

Don't know if you heard, but Palin had a job after mayor of Wasilla.

It's called governor. Of Alaska. One of the 51 executives in the US (50 states + President). Alaska has an economy, which the executive has a large part in managing.

FFS, it's not like she came out of the damn bush with a moose legbone in her mouth after a week of clubbing baby seals.

And chaos, you are certainly entitled to your view. But I am an American first and last. I am not a citizen of the world. I know my country has a place in the world, and I'm all for other countries' people doing well. But I will not put another country's interests before my own country's. I realize that it is in my country's best interest to have good relations with other countries. But I am not a citizen of the world. The world didn't give me the freedoms and opportunities I enjoy--my country did.

I mentioned she was governor of Alaska. I neglected to mention that she was also a sports presenter.
I did mention what kind of state Alaska was - it is reflected in your link:

The oil and gas industry dominates the Alaskan economy, with more than 80% of the state's revenues derived from petroleum extraction. Alaska's main export product (excluding oil and natural gas) is seafood, primarily salmon, cod, Pollock and crab.
Dig, chop, fish, mine, extract. Simple as that.

Oh and personally I regard a decent tertiary (preferably beyond tertiary) education as an absolute must for someone who could potentially hold such a globally politically and economically influential role. She farted around several colleges - a semester here, a semester there- more concerned about winning beauty pageants than filling her brain with knowledge. When she was eventually done she had the grand sum total of a BSc in communications, with a minor in Political Science. So basically she learned how to shit talk to the masses.

She's a simple hockey mom hick, with little/no worldly experience and an infestation of the mind in terms of religion, from a wilderness state in the backass of beyond. She is a complete unmitigated doomsday scenario. I feel sorry for McCain because I actually have some respect for the man, although his choice of VP has raised some very serious questions about his intellect.

Oh and FEOS, the world gave your country half the shit you use in your everyday life through importation of goods - check your national balance of trade. And last I checked you guys imported a shitload of your transportation and electricity production fuels. I'm also fairly certain the major corporations and various businesses that provide you guys with jobs are counting on the external market of over 5.5 billion people to buy their goods. So yes you are a citizen of the world. Americans need to learn that fact. Check your national debt and who owns it.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Foreign_Holders_of_United_States_Treasury_Securities-percent_share.gif

Even tiny green speck in the asshole of the Atlantic, Ireland, owns 0.71% of the $2.7trn of US debt held by foreign nations. I know it's not in my interests or in anyone's interests for the US to fail. Hence the reason I'm concerned that the US are going to fuck themselves and the rest of us to an even more extreme degree than possibly imaginable.

Gotta love the young people (Don't get me wrong, I'm young too) who think politics don't affect their life.

And Having Palin as a president would be a total disaster. I am not saying Obama or McCain would be good choices either, all candidates have some serious shit on their lists.

But Palin... Gawd...
