Bush fucked it more. In terms of economy. Foreign policy. And imo he's also hurt the Republican party for this election and possibly the next.

i don't really know if its fair to place the blame solely on either's shoulders. i think what's happening now is a culmination of a long chain of events dating back to China getting preferred trading status. when that happened overseas manufacturing really took off. our own manufacturing sector kind of died off for the most part after that. sure, we still have detroit, but what we have now is a drop in the bucket compared to what we had before.
anyways, when we got our nice massive debt mistrust in the dollar grew and oil speculation grew which lead to our current economic problems, along with the doomed housing sector (nobody but the lenders to blame for this), there was no manufacturing to bail us out and keep our bills strong. so, they dropped.
essentially, the only thing to blame is our own greed. so in a way, I guess the real people to blame were truman, kennedy, johnson and the rest of the gang from the 50s and 60s who inspired the whole middle class american dream thing.
i also like how this has mostly deteriorated into name calling between drool and ATG.
