Are you serious? Here are some of the "fair rules" they have set:

1. Homework grades should be given only when the grades will raise a student's average, not lower it

2. Teachers must accept overdue assignments, and a principal will decide whether students are to be penalized for missing deadlines.

3. Students who flunk a test can retake the exam and keep the higher grade

4. Teachers cannot give a zero on an assignment unless they call parents and make "efforts" to assist students in completing the work

They have to be joking. Not looking good.

The worst part about it?

The new guidelines were developed by district staff and did not require school board approval.

At least let the board decide what's fair and what's not.

Sorry for the rant, it just grates on me how this can happen. Next thing you know, sleeping in class will give you an automatic A+++, recommendations to Ivy League schools, and get you placed on a pedestal while wreaths and cookies are thrown to you.

The first one's pretty bullshit. I haven't handed in Homework many times before because I got caught up in other work, but that's basically just telling kids that they don't have to do their homework.

The second one isn't THAT bad, but still a bit ridiculous.

The third one should only be given to students in Special Ed or other classes such as that.

The fourth one doesn't seem that horrible.

I don't even think thats the worst part that means that the colleges won't take the good student seriously unless s/he have really good recommendations, but even then its a long shot cause how can u tell if the student did bad if they don't rate that in the grades.

My school actually had this to a degree.
We had 2 weeks to hand in assignments after due, without penalty. If we didn't hand it in by then, we got an alternate.
I tried to keep up with regular deadlines but all it ended up doing was fucking me up an making me lose 5% overall.

lol, the homework and deline parts would give me straight A's. But since I hand in everything late and don't do all mai homework I am damned to getting B's mostly. Though in the classes that don't require work I get A's.

Actually, once I time ago, freshmen year, I fell asleep a lot at the very end of the year; A's on every test and including the final 200 question exam and a B on my final grade without barely studying at all. I simply fell asleep in class and I believe to have 'absorbed' the info somehow. No other real explanation. Same effect with all the other parts of other classes I fell asleep in...

EDIT: And to add...

Fucking Christ Texas. I say Mexico can have you back and we'll take Guam or Cuba to balance out our flag again, just go away.
