Calling All CSS PLayers

Basically me an my friends brought out a 100 tick CSS server, upon the formation of our clan "Teh", a mid clan based primarily in the UK, ..but since then the clan has kind of disbanded and members have left for different reasons etc.. we now have a; 20 player, 100 tick server based in the UK, with no one playing on it, the cost of running the server to the original members of the clan has come to waste an we need to populate it, not only for entertainments sake, but to get our moneys worth .

- 100 tick
- UK based
- 20 man
- mainly de maps, although will rotate a lot due to in game voting
- the server has an up and running source tv client also for game playback

The higher the tick rate the faster the server runs calculations for reg. 100 tick rate servers are the highest stable tick rate servers you can get, an therefore the most playable.
Zombie maps will feature in the rotation but for now were mainly running de maps.

Same with me, what is 100 tick?

How quick the download / upload rate to the server is. I think there's three types: 33 tick, 66 tick and 100 tick. Depending on the server type the closer the download and upload rates at bits per second will be to that tick.

Keep it a pure sever and dont add shitty plug ins and gay stuff. Pure servers are much better than other with plug ins add ons and voting and all that crap.

Speaking from experience and from what we see here, you can make any type of server and it will fill. Low ping is great, but good administration is an absolute must. You can put as many addons as you want. I used to run a custom map/hook mod server in CZ that would never have more then 2 slots open. What you need to do is to not make them cumbersome.

My advice: Take "Practice Server" out of the name. It would discourage people from joining as they may think a clan is running drills or something. If you run only standard maps, make it something like "DumbFACE's - 100 tick - Standard Maps ONLY." Essentially, make a short title about what they should expect the first 3 seconds they are in game including any game-changing addons (hook mod yes, mugging mod no) and what genre of maps (standard or custom).

That said, quick and dirty admin. Kick hackers of course. If two people are arguing and one says the other did it, kick them both. Be lenient with warning but if you say "knock it off or your kicked" and they keep arguing, don't keep warning. If you do kick someone, most often they will rejoin in seconds. I don't remember how to tailor it to CS:S but there if you ban someone, there is a message why. Instead of kicking, ban for 5 minutes and make this clear in that message.

Gun Game or Zombie, Surf works too, there's hundreds if not thousands of reg CSS servers. You jumping into a smaller pool if you go with the mods, but it will also fill quicker.
