If claymores had to be set up over, say, a 3 to 5 second period in which the user could take part in no other actions, they would be ok...

As is, I think the claymore in BF2 is one of the all-time lamest weapons EVER in a shooter.

I can't count the number of times some retard has charged me with claymore in hand in the middle of a firefight, only for me to shoot them dead but somehow they manage to drop a fully-functional claymore at their feet before they fall. Then you die if you move in any direction.

Its like Martyrdom on crack, and it's fucking retarded.

Today the claymore awareness foundation had their first meeting. All members were able to show and there was a surprise visit from XblackpantherX to show his dedication to the cause.

I rarely died from claymore when I played BF2... If its this big of a problem to you you just need to fucking pay attention and stop running around with no idea what your doing.

They either sit out in the open, or they are easy to predict where they are gonna be.

well in COD4, claymores are pretty hard to avoid especially when its in tall grass. Bf2, just like you i rarely got killed with claymores. Not only that , people rarely used them because of the excessive Teamkilling. climb up a ladder only to have some noob in your team put one on top of the ladder. the rest you can figure out yourself.
