Cam can't play qb in the NFL. Go Ducks!

Dyer was down on the run, Oregon was ripped off on numerous calls, Auburn plays classlessly, and Cam Newton is a professional athlete.
I was actually impressed with the quality of the calls ... well, that is compared with some of the stuff I've seen in other bowls this year.nukchebi0 wrote:

He was not down. Learn football. Need an elbow.
If I remember right the wrist counts as well as the same thing happened in the OSU game I think. It's anything other than the hands or feet, wrist is not a hand.CC-Marley wrote:

Practically, it is difficult to near impossible to judge the distinction between where the hand ends and the wrist begins, and in particular on the palm side of the hand ...nukchebi0 wrote:

... it is also impossible to put the palm of your hand on a football field and not have at least one blade of the playing surface touching your wrist.
This is why it is a judgment call. It can go either way. And because the call on the field was that he was not down, then there is just not clear and compelling evidence to overturn the call.
But seriously, it is part of the game of football for officials to miss very close calls, or to make judgments against your team that could go either way. The officials at the NC did a good job.
Other Oregon players pulled up because they didn't want to get a late hit penalty. Given that, it seems the proper judgment call would have been to rule him down.

please don't call it a "National Championship" game, kthx!OrangeHound wrote:

That's why you play until the whistle. No excuses.nukchebi0 wrote:

Given the new emphasis on reducing cheap shots, that doesn't seem to be applicable to this situation.
I'm over the fact that Oregon lost. That doesn't alter the reality of the situation, that is, that:
-Auburn benefited from close officiating decisions
-Auburn committed two egregious personal foul penalties, thus indicated their classlessness
-Cam Newton is a professional athlete competing against amateurs
It's not whining, just reality.

Don't be naive ... that's like saying the person who gets pulled over for speeding is the only one who is speeding. There are dozens upon dozens of NCAA football players who are receiving inappropriate benefits.nukchebi0 wrote:

Cam just got caught.
