It seems we are arguing about wins at different levels, so I'll drop the argument. To the team, a win is a win regardless of who you played. To the college football landscape, it's dependent on who you played and how well you dominated them.
And yeah, I'm glad they don't mean anything, although they do color perceptions of how well each team is doing (since you look at a win against a supposedly good team better than a win against a supposedly horrible team, and this translates down throughout the rest of the season.)
