Yes, I'm still raging about this movie.

Love mythology stuff... The human fighting scenes were good but somewhat few and far between. The god fighting scenes were really awesome, but not much of the overall movie. The gods didn't seem to have any powers other than being really enhanced humans though. Faster, stronger, and could "beam" up and down from Olympus, but no real extra knowledge of what was going on... No one throwing lightning bolts around... Just fighting with human-esque weapons really fast and really powerfully.

It was ok to watch while doing something else, like organizing your photo collection, but it is the kind of movie that 6 months from now I will see it at Blockbuster and ask my wife "Hey, have we seen this?" And she will say "I think so... That was the one with the gods fighting really really fast wasn't it?" And I will say "Oh yeah... Meh."

American Reunion : 5/10

Since the movie is not even out yet, and I got to see an advanced screening, I am going to put everything under spoiler tags..
Spoiler (highlight to read):

I loved the old American Pie movies... This one is not up to par.

Right off the bat there are a number of bizarre things that left a bad taste in my mouth...

1) The gang all meets up for their Class of '99 high school reunion. Wait, class of '99... So does this movie take place in 2009? Maybe in 2014 at their 15th? Nooooo, they finally reveal it is 2012, and it is their 13th High School Reunion. Seriously, who has a 13th?

2) Jim and Willow Michelle stay at Jim's Dad's house, in Jim's old room. Which is exactly the same. Untouched. No seriously, it is eactly the freaking same. Who moves out without actually moving a damn thing out? His stereo, pictures of friends, bed, computer, books, and even porn magazines are exactly where he left them. I guess when you get married you get to immediately buy all new stuff. That is so bizarre.

Once you get past those minor things, it is just another American Pie movie, right? No... Remember all the "gross" scenes that were still hilarious in the older movies? Like when Stifler got peed on? It was funny stuff the way they did it. Now it is just gross. Several scenes of just freaking gross crap for no real reason with nothing funny coming out of them. Just gross out/shock value/I can't believe they showed that moments.

Nudity was always a part of these movies... Yet it only had one topless woman, but instead showed Jim's penis and ass for a 5 minute scene. Yay.

They didn't really explain some stuff that might make you care about the characters. Like about how that couple broke up, or why this person married this other person instead... But it had an endless amount of very scripted speeches that connected one pointless character to the next. The funny scenes were funny, but I didn't need to listen to Kevin make peace with the girl he broke up with 10 years ago. "Look, I still like you, which only goes to show what we had was really special. Don't get me wrong, I love my wife, and would never do anything to jeopardize that, but you just need to know that you're ok, and I'm ok, and we're ok." "Great, let's dance!"

Ugh, started on a 5, upped it to a 6 because it did have a few really funny PARTS, now lowering it back to a 5... Just wasn't really worth the time.

Hunger Games: 8/10

Probably the best adaptation of a book I have seen. Couple things missing that you would have understood better by reading the books, and could have done without some of the zoomed in shaky cam action scenes... One or two minor things that they didn't do right (see spoilers). With those corrected might have hit a 9. Otherwise, lived up to my expectations.

Spoiler (highlight to read):

Missed some of the desperation feel by the everyday people.
The fence around the district in the book was like a 15 foot tall electrified chain link and razor wire fence... That added to the "trapped" feeling. The one in the movie was like a cow pasture barbed wire fence.
The mockingjay pin in the book was her "token" that became a symbol. In the movie, she had it covered up and hidden the whole time... So why would the people all associate it with her as much?

really. Face it, the books are just another fiction series meant for teens. Don't give me the adult theme bullcrap because I am simply not buying it. Sure, people over 25 still read harry potter, but that doesn't change the target audience.
As far as the movie goes: If you've seen battle royale you know this is just the same. A western (holywood) version if you like. The camerawork wasnt adding anything. It was just incredibly annoying. there were maybe 2-3 scenes that had a clear shot in them and didn't look like they were filmed by someone laughing hysterically with their finger stuck on the zoom-in button.
The acting was what you would expect. Words such as average and mediocre come to mind.
And the story, well, as i said before: It's basically a hollywood version of battle royale. i.e: they added cheesy hollywood crap and clichés but minus the schoolgirls getting raped by tentacles.

Maybe I would have been able to enjoy this more if it wasn't made out to be the next big thing after harry potter and twilight. honestly i couldn't care less about any of them.

oh, i haven't seen the movies or read the books. it was a 20 something claiming to be too old for teen sensationalism that made me ask that.
