Watching the hangover part 2

Most comedy sequels are terrible but that was fucking hilarious.

Tim & Eric's Billion Dollar Movie: 8.5/10. That's just after one viewing though. Not all of it is funny (yet), and there is some pretty disturbing, gross shit. I'm more a fan of their short stuff anyway. 11 minute episodes are perfect, 15 minute shorts are perfect. But the hour-long Chrimbus special wasn't super awesome.

Definitely recommended if you're a T&E fan.

I liked the story line but it was really too slow-paced for my liking. The potential for an awesome scene kept arising but never transpired. Then during that shootout it just didn't seem intense at all.

This person from Rotten Tomatoes had a good sentence to describe the film.

The storyline is driven by too many nick-of-time scenarios, the repetitive nature of which gradually decrease their impact.

The Last House On The Left - 11/10

Truly cathartic. The first half is really fucked up but the second part makes it worth the gut wrenching scenes. Spoiler:

The Addams Family Reunion - 7/10 (average)

Tim Curry does a spectacular job, the kids are a bit forced, Fester, Lurch, Cousin It, Thing and Granmama are fine, and I don't see what people hated about Morticia. It isn't bad if you don't treat it as a sequel to the first two. It isn't, and is actually closer to being like the TV show than either. In fact, it helped spawn a reboot TV show:

I didn't find out about it until I watched the movie again and read up about it afterwards. Also didn't quite know what to think of the cast at first, but that's a fair enough, over-the-top Gomez.

Remake or original? The original is iconic, as it was the first "slasher flick" made.

Paranormal Activity 3 - 8/10

Much more of a psychological/mindfuck thriller than the first two. Neatly brings all three together. PA is the odd franchise where each sequel is a little bit better than the one before.

I kept feeling like I was watching Woody Allen in an Owen Wilson suit. It would've been funny if in the credits (which I didn't watch through), Pedantic Paul would've found a Salvador Dali rendition of the protagonist.

Rampage 6/10

Actually a fairly okay movie. I was surprised it was made by Uwe Boll. It's no godfather and the ending was kinda lame but otherwise it was a decent time killer.

Saw it on netflix instant but it's on youtube if you don't mind watching it there.

Super 8 - 7/10

Yes, it was quite a bit like JJ Abrams' other monster flick (Cloverfield). But that's not necessarily a bad thing...

Of course, I had to nitpick the late 70s - early 80s USAF uniforms. Was kind of shocked that they knew the enlisted chevrons back then were different.

Overall, decent flick. A couple of "jump out of your seat" moments. A lot of questions left unanswered at the end, though.

Overall, I preferred ET. The kids in Super 8 were good, but I miss the focus on the alien.

Drive -  3/10:
What a craptacular movie. Let's describe it as "A stunt driver that moonlights as a getaway driver" And throw around words like "action packed" and "Best car chase scenes since Bullet!" and then only put 3 car chases in it, two of them under under 2 minutes long... Then let's not put any actual action, but some random gore in it. Only mention the "stunt driving" career for about 30 seconds. Throw in a possible career with NASCAR, OH, and throw in the hot pink graphics of a John Hughes movie, and TAH-DAH... We have a... what? What exactly do we have?

If you are going to watch it, watch the opening car chase scene, maybe 4 minutes long total.... then turn it off. And you will still be disappointed, but you will have seen everything good in this movie.
