I'm amazed at all the people who say they can do 100+ consecutive pushups with no break.  That takes months of training and conditioning.  Hell, that would score you a 100% for the pushup category of the USMC Fitness Test, the hardest out of the 3 military branches, so you know it's gotta be tough.  I call bullshit.

That said, I can do 60.

I benchpress 190 lbs (30 lbs more than I weigh) in 3 sets of 8 reps and can't even approach 100 consecutive pushups, which is why I think that the majority of the people who say they can are either not using correct form or lying out their ass.

I guess I should have said 4, although Marines are part of the Navy, but Marines have a separate test.  Army, Air Force, Navy, and Marines all have different fitness tests and requirements.

I know.  So what makes the USMC the toughest?

Yes all the military branches require a preliminary test to join up and then you are tested (I believe) every month so you maintain at least the minimum fitness requirements.  But the Navy requirements are much easier than the Marine Corps'.

Army does:  push-ups, sit-ups, and a 2 mile run
Navy does:   push-ups, sit-ups, and a 1.5 mile run
USMC does:  pull-ups (much harder than push-ups), sit-ups, and 3 mile run
Air Force does:  Who cares

The minimum requirements actually aren't that difficult for an athlete, but if you ever want to be in any type of Special Forces like SEALS or Green Beret, you have to be waaaaay above the minimums.  The requirements and scoring charts can be found in 2 seconds on google so I won't post them all here.

To get back on topic, a 100% for the Army in the pushups category is only 77 reps, which is still damn hard.  I was wrong about USMC and 100 pushups.

army does a 2 mile run where in order to score 100% you have to run at 6 minute mile pace, hardly easy.  the rest of the Army excercises are completed in within 2 minutes, you have to get a certain number in order to get 100%.  You need at least 60% in all three in order to pass.

Ive never been a PT stud.  Ive been a consistent smoker since I was 12, my run is weak.  It always sucked maxing out push ups and sit ups and still only getting a 267 out of 300.

I hated PT.  Which really sucked when I was stationed in Hawaii.  The bars in Waikiki closed at 0430.  Which means I was running by 0600.  Wow, that sucked now that I look back on it.

I actually did it on two separate occasions.

The first time, I was hit into the boards in hockey and my left arm went into them at a funny angle which snapped the growth plate on my wrist in half and fractured my hand as well worst spring break yet . The second time, I was playing some tackle football for fun with some friends and some asshole tackled me and I landed funny on my right arm, breaking my right elbow. If that wasn't enough I had my appendix out about two weeks later... It's been one hell of a year for me.
I've broken my left wrist about 4 times and my right wrist twice...I've also broken my right index finger, my right big toe and my nose.

Some people get all the luck.
lol big toe.  I know, I know, it hurts.

big toe.  Hahaha.
Man, I'm telling you the big toe was probably the worst of the lot! Took about two years to heal!

Not as bad as a ruptured blood vessel...now that hurts! Doctor thought it was a broken arm and plastered it up,from the hand to the elbow. The pain was still so bad two days later that I had to go back to the hospital and when they took the cast off my forearm had turned dark purple from severe bruising!
