Mercs here are a bit different because they don't have all the lower end stuff they have in Europe and portray themselves as a purely luxury car brand.
US perception:
BMW: Performance Luxury
Audi: Hybrid Luxury
Merc: Luxury Luxury (Im rich hurr durr)

I would go for an Audi personally though (if I had money to spend on anything besides college, haha)

The previous smart video in this thread said that the steering column retracted out of the way in an impact. I didn't really see it work that well when the dummy's head smashed into the wheel THROUGH the airbag.

They may not be the same year

EDIT: From looking at the video, yes it does actually work, but the retraction happens to avoid the steering wheel beeing slammed into your head because the front axle is beeing crushed towards the driver without the steering wheel going through his face...

I've never ever liked Audi, but the recent ones have gotten slightly better.. I still prefer BMW though

Also, If I were filthy rich I'd never buy my child an expensive car.. Not envy or jealousy, I just don't see why an 18 year old should be driving to uni in a pimped-out huge-ass Range Rover.

there's a few girls here with range rovers like that, they come across like bad paris hiltons

also i know a crew of guys that all spin around in whited-out audi coupes. look like idiots.

the chinese/asian foreign students with ferraris and maseratis get my respect, though

they just joyride around campus like it's need for speed or some shit
