It amazes me how a lot of people here, mainly right wingers, are very offended and concerned about black people "playing the race card" when it comes to racial issues.  For instance Obama can't say shit about Republicans using his color against him coz if he does, these people will claim he's using the race card.  The same people very often blames Islam for everything, and you, of course, can't play the intolerance card, or they will say " you're playing the generalization card".  These are the same people that will play the anti-Semite card when criticizing Israel, the anti-American card when criticizing GWB, and the list goes on.  If you like to play your cards, then let other people play theirs.

The post you're referring to, "Obama plays the race card," was an example of a member not having an understanding of the terms he was using in his post. Either that or the term was deliberately misused in order to make it more sensational, I think it was the former.

I know with what you posted on the trackr DST Commandments thread you made, that the use of generalised labels irritates you, and it should irritate everyone. Labelling someone "liberal," or "communist," or "hawk," or "neo-con," in fact any of the other examples you used, doesn't add to the quality of the debate in these forums. It's much easier to respond to someone with a derogatory label and a "you're wrong" sentence than to address the points they've made, and use your own opinion and evidence to contradict them, but if you do take the time to do it, you're really furthering the debate for the rest of the community. It'd be better if labels were less used, but I think everyone is guilty of it.

Obama uses his color against 'Republicans.' Any white guy that disagrees with his proposed policies can be called a racist (usually by a body other than the campaign). So it's even.

I love to play cards.  No Limit Texas Hold 'em is my favorite.  Too bad I've lost around $1500 in the last two weeks at the casinos.  I blame Obama, Muslims, and the Westboro Baptist Church.

Presidents, or Candidates shouldn't don't be bringing up race as an issue in the race to become Presidents.

It just dosen't happen.

Its never happened in 232 years... kind of a big deal.

But He never "witnessed" the racial bigotary in his church for the last 20 years and its not an issue...   Ahuh. OK. Sure dude.

I want a re-deal.

I'm not offended by it - I just find it interesting that if he wins it'll be seen as a race victory and not a democratic victory, at least to some. Party to heart, I guess.

Does anyone honestly believe this? Honestly?

Are you trying to say for example that if Obama wanted to try and introduce something crazy like 50% income tax on high earners that anyone who opposed him on this would be labeled a racist, even though it's got absolutely nothing to do with race? If Obama was trying to introduce a policy relating to race in some way then maybe (just maybe) you could play the racist angle but it would have to be a pretty far out policy because in terms of Government recognised rights all races are given parity these days. Can anyone give specific example of this happening because it all seems very bizarre to me.

I'd say it happens, but you have it the other way.  Republicans in general are painted with a different brush.  Democrats are the one's afforded more leinency in making statements that if made by a Republican would otherwise invite harsh critism.

It's like the whole gay marriage thing.

Right wingers complain about political correctness and how people get to riled up about words.

Then they freak out when the gays want to use the word marriage.
