Here's the latest BF2 news from the DICE Live team.

With over 15 million player accounts being created since release, Battlefield 2 is still going strong. On the forums we often see discussions about whether there will ever be another update for the game. Well, today we are happy to announce that we are working on an update for Battlefield 2. We are planning to provide an open beta in the near future and we hope you’ll give us your feedback before final release; so watch out for that.

Keep an eye on www.Battlefield.com for information on what we are working on, release dates and don’t forget to visit our forums.

In the mean time Battlefield Bad Company is released worldwide this week and we expect it will keep you occupied while we work on the update.

Patch 1.5 Officially here with proof!

As you all know it begun with a announcement on the NetGameRadio, John Hargelid,
from DICE announced that Battlefield 2 will be getting a new patch that includes new maps. (as a rumor)

I was very sceptic too about this announcement and had a idea, find that name in the credits.
As you can see the name John Hargelid pops up in the BF2 credits

Shanghai Showdown "sounds really familiar ?" is it the proof for a possible patch,maps download from the dice team?
Anyway Shanghai is a PLA-USMC Urban combat map (Chinese karkand?) that finally arrives after almost 2 years of "community begging"

If it is a patch, and not only a map-pack "witch seems more likely-er because in game advertising is the only profit ea can harvest out of bf2"
the Patch would contain fixed for server crashes, browser stability, CDT fix, glitching, Red-lining and possible are Hit reg and Vehicle tweaks.*A
But however, the map will be ready for the beta test for battlefield 2

*NOTE* if it is a patch ONLY with the hit reg fix be prepared that the patch file size will be huge!
