- Judging a Person by his Stats. (Its going to be REALLY offensive)
Any and almost every form of human communication is frought with so much stupidity it makes reading online forums frustrating. What's new?
If you are above this form of judgement, then why bother commenting about it in the first place? Yes, anyone with an actual life is with you on this, do you really need reaffirmation that these people are morons?
A lot of people that play these kind of games religiously, especially if there is an availability of stats to keep track of, will place some form of self-worth into them. There isn't anything to it, these people just need something to reaffirm themselves in life, and many people have nothing else, so BF2 stats do it for them.
Personally, I like to be able to check my stats to know which areas of my play are improving, and which still need work. But in a world of stat padding, weapon/vehicle whoring (nothing wrong with it imo) and the lack of stats that provide evidence for strong team play, someone having good or bad stats equates to absolutely nothing, especially if you try to judge someone by them. Your stats should be for you and no one else. No one but you can know whether having a K/D of 1.0 is actually good or bad, or whether your WCR actually means you earned it.
Don't take it personally, there will always be stupid little punk kids posting on the forums about 10 differents sorts of nonsense. It's not worth even getting remotely emotional about.

I got in to BF2 because my son is really in to it. On of the biggest thrills I got was when he finally got me on-line (after months of practicing in single user) and joined my squad. We were camped in a private Ventrilo room so we could talk. “Dad, turn LEFT!” “Pops – don’t go in there. C2 in the ground and the guy is to the right.” You get the picture.
Now I venture out by my self. Being the 40+ dad I am my biggest worry is “Am I b0rking the game for my teammates or squadmates?” The other night I pulled a classic n00b move and ran over a teammate’s mine. I felt terrible, not because I blew up, but so did the other guy in the humvee. However, kudos to him that he didn’t TK-Punish me.
All this to say – here’s to folks who play for fun! Maybe we should start our own clan.

Stats are only good for seeing what map someone plays and what vehicle they tend to choose. Other than that it's just lame bragging rights.

I look at my stats EVERY DAY somtimes 3 or 4 times a DAY so STFU shit head.....LOL and I am ELITE.

You can't comprehensivly compare statistics with another player unless you have exactly the same time in all the maps, kits, weapons and veichles. A guy who constantly plays Karkand saying to me "I have a greater KPM or SPM that you, thusly, I am a better player than you." holds no ground, as I play a variety of maps where there is a larger gap between spawn points and players. Also someone who says "My k:d ratio is better than yours, so I am a better player," is also bullshit if the player in question is a tank/plane-whore, (although I will admit they're better than me in a plane, I'm just not good with jets.)
However, if someone who is all the classes for the same amount of time as me, gets in veichles for the same amount of time as me, uses the same weapons as much as I do and plays the exact same maps as me on the same team and says to me, "My k:d ratio is better than yours, my SPM and KPM are greater than yours and my DPM is less. My accuracy is better and I have more medals than you." That is a comprehensive comparision that will hold ground.

Polarbearz, this is what I've been saying since day one. There are too many padders and whores that make the stats uncomparable in one way or another. The stats are meant for individuals for self accomplishments, not for everyone else's brag to be better than the other. Everyone plays differently; Just play for fun.
Yeah we should make our own clan, one where there is no certain practice time, or gives a damn if we win a competition. It would be the most laid back clan in the game, my suggestion would be =JFF=, or just for fun or =JFK= (No pun intended) just for kicks. I dunno, any suggestions?
Anyone can say "well I let my little sister play or I mess around a lot and thats why I have sub-par stats". Thats total BS. You can make another account for your sister or little kid or to mess around on. Stats are stats. They are hard evidence to observe and analyze. Everyone has their reasons for playing and how they play but you can get a good idea how someone really does play form viewing stats. If you choose to goof off or let someone ruin your stats thats on you. It must be way to hard to make another account for that but whatever.

judging a person by his stats alone is bullshit. we had this conversation before chitlin, obviously you're very judgemental and take these stats to heart about other people and how they play. Stats shouldn't mean judging someones skill, there are too many variables, you just can't do that, no matter how hard you want to and believe in it. There are goals, there is just the fun in it, there are certain way people play, there are different accounts, these are just a few.
