If any of you have seen my recent threads, you know I've been hovering around the E4700.  But that's still a lot of money for me to drop.

So is there anything happening soon that would cause any significant price drop to this processor?  Maybe the Nehalem or something?

And if so, any estimate as to how much it would drop?

EDIT: Why on earth get one of those, when you can get an E7200 for less?

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

There are no planned price drops that the tech sites have reported. Although prices do drop when AMD launches a new Chip, but they don't have anything planned.

Their new 1teraflop stream processors are planned to be released in Q3 2008, but those aren't designed for average home users, they are designed for pure math.
