I was very tempted to pick up some DR-GA500s from Sony but I couldnt find anything to say if they worked with the PS3 or not.

I once went from headset to tabletop microphone.

Never again will I go back to using a headset.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Precisely this.. I've tried countless desk mics and they're all terrible. Plus I'm not an audiophile and would rather have an all-in-one.

He is right though, it was a low quality mic. Still, I like having the mic and headset in one package for simplicities sake. Thats why I buy the headsets with stow-away or removable mics.
