13 256MB sticks of DDR1.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Hey Freezer, just incase you were wondering, soldering three sticks of DDR1 together DDR3 does not make.

I know. These are going in a bunch of old P4 computers I got from school. Gonna sell'em for cheap.

Did your school only just update?

We (our school) just threw out dual cores for quad cores. Stupid laws over here dictate they have to pay to have them destroyed and any parts recycled, including the monitors. I coulda got some sweet-ass folders outta the lot we had.

So states the law here too, but nobody cares. I don't think they even registered them when they bought'em.

Fuck you and your quad cores. 70% of my high school was still on P3 Windows 98 machines when I left.

Just paid the Samsung 2233RZ 120Hz. Monitors specs speak for itself. One of the 2 LCDs best for gaming today. The other one is Viewsonic FuHzion.

Its been a quiet week. so just this:

- Dell U2410P 24 inch widescreen monitor.
- Sharkoon Xtatic V3 5.1 Dolby Digital Headset
- Shure SE530 PTH

I do love gadgets, and i have a healthy disdain for positive bank balances.

Not with the PTH....you could just take your buds out! You'd look like a complete douche and quite rude tbh talking to someone with them in.

Lol. I only wear the PTH set at the office where because so many of us are sat in close proximity coding or pretending to work, its kind of acceptable to hit the PTH switch. As Winston says though the PTH set is detachable, the package that Shure sends is pretty comprehensive, apart from the various ear buds and so forth, they also package the phones with three sets of cables - one small to medium, one enormous, and one containing PTH in the pic below you can see: the PTH set (left), the headphones with short cord and cross over (middle) and the medium length cable (right) in general usage I opt for the medium cable since there is less on it to filter the signal. However given that fitting the ear buds, while easy, isnt just a case of slapping them in - and people in the office will often approach me, ask a quick question then disappear again its quicker to use the PTH set in this case, as it means not having to reseat the buds.

Ive got to say by the way, these are the best in ears ive ever used by some margin. They have opened up over the last few days, and the definition is incredible, ive got most of my Ipod filled with apple lossless formatted tracks, but those that arent are at 192kbps or higher - and you can really hear the difference on these phones. They are warm sounding, but have more than enough clarity without ever sounding "clinical".

Also they are strides ahead in design from the Shure E5C's, which i still have as back up headphones - these are of comparable sound quality but were cumbersome by comparison to use (the cable that goes over your ear was too bulky, and the driver unit itself is slightly larger) also the SE530's seem to have taken on board that copper cabling oxidises over time and the clear cables quickly change from showing shiny wire to green oxisdised wire, the black and bronze finish of the SE530's is much more asthetically pleasing. Photo included for comparison.

I read a review of these and its strap line was "dont for god sake demo these headphones unless you are prepared to buy them, youll want them that much". That about sums it up, they are lovely. I definitely recommend them

ps - sorry for crappy iphone pics !.

Look awesome!

I've got the SE210's. Do you know if you can buy extra cables separately because I only got one with mine and it is definitely too long!

p.s. Fair point about the PTH, that's a good reason!

Stop your moaning. My work ONLY has P3s, P4s and PDs...

Nice new earphones, Maverick. Although they do have fantastic sound quality, I find them a bit too heavy at times.

I have the Ultimate Ears 700, and my god do they rock. Few earphones match their quality (the 530s do, of course) and no earphones match their size (except the q-Jays, but their sound quality isn't as good). So damn comfortable and perfect length of cable.

It's hard to get the length of cable right, my old Sennheiser CX-95s had a really really short cable and then an extension, which made it too long. The cable was perfect length for jacket pocket, but too short for trouser pocket, which was just a nuisance.
