I don't play softcore so don't know.
But in Hardcore, the best weapon for me is Barrett+acog+rpg+fast reload+deep impact.
In long range is a killer, in close combat is a killer killer.
Although I really like the MP5.

M16 + Red Dot + Bandolier +Stoping Power + Either Deep Impact or Steady Aim = Win.

M249 SAW. Great in both soft and hardcore.
In matches i use M4 Silenced or Ak with nothing = Hardcore ..
Ak47u/Ak47 = Softcore.

For longer range maps, red dot sighted G3 with a Barret .50 slung over my back, and claymores.
mp5 + silencer + dead silence + uav jammer.
ak47 or the 74u and ofc the m40 m16 can be pretty badass asswell all with bando/stopping/deep impact and no attachements!

Oi i noticed how good is the AK74 with double tap I was ripping through scores of people, just running around with the sights up advancing room to room full tacticool style
a nice spray and pray weapons is P90+ bandolier+ Double tap+ red dot. i always bring that setup to Vacant map.
