A lot of gallente ships get a bonus to armor tanking, also the high armor HP is a sign that you should be armor tanking. Just fit a repper and a tier 2 damage control. Should also look up fits for your ships on some of the eve sites.

the rigors + target painter let you get near full DPS on cruisers (of which there are buttloads in level4 missions. the XL booster w/injector gives you like 5mins to gtfo if you mess up aggro/spawns

Thank god my days of missioning are over. FM, getting myself a Tengu was the best thing I did on eve Work your way to that sometime, doesn't take much to max it and it owns.
