It doesn't need to be defended, the opinions exhibited here are out and out wrong and the people who play/like EVE understand that. For example the combat even beyond preparation is not simple, that is an ignorant statement. I understand that a lot of people still will not like the game, that is a matter of personal taste. But the game does need to be "defended" from ignorance, that is not a fault of the game.

If anything the problem with EVE is the learning curve that keeps people from getting into the game, but that is a direct result of being a deep game that an awful lot of people claim to want out of the gaming industry lately.

I don't think it's the learning curve that holds people back, but the lengthy preparation time. Lets be honest, it takes at least 2-3 months to get a decent character with learning skills just to do basic combat (although I believe they made new characters learn faster). This game loses people in the trial weeks, because it presents itself as a game where you have to wait so long to do anything decent, and having been through that myself, I can understand why people struggle to commit themselves to the long term.

Just because the combat isn't simple, doesn't make it exciting. Lasers and rockets really get old after a while, I know I had my sound turned off after only 3-4 months playing.

So guys... What would you think about the idea of getting some form of warning pop up when you try to undock, when you don't have your clone up to date? It wouldn't hurt anyone; I was thinking about posting it on that CSM or whatever forum it is.
