"I have a fear of Islam and all Muslims being stereotyped and discriminated for the actions of a few. "
It is really very difficult to separate the "peaceful" Muslims from those who act violently in the name of Islam. Why is that? It is because the "peaceful" Muslims are NOT speaking out and acting against those Muslims who ARE using Islam as the motivation for their cowardly acts of terror. I know there are a few that do, but their numbers are few and they rightly fear for their lives if they do speak out. So lets dispense with this idea that the terror is NOT connected to Islam, because it clearly is. When the sound from the "peaceful" Muslims becomes overwhelming against the din of their Islamic terrorist brothers, then perhaps we may believe that Muslims also deplore and condemn violence against non Muslims. Until then, I am unable to believe that Islam has no role in the spread of terror.
"Should you not be taking me to a close land to show me how friendly and tolerant non-Muslim people are toward Islam? Should you not be quoting me the Old Testament verses to show me how loving and tolerant Judaism and Christianism are to all people who do not believe what they believe? Should you not be comforting me by showing just how Christian priests treat their children, with love and without protection? I know, maybe a picture of Torquemada to hang on my wall to constantly remind me of the love and peace and tolerance that comes along with being Christian."
I'm an atheist. The rantings of another religion have no place in my thinking. I don't care at all about the religious motivations of others, other than when these religious motivations become intrusive in my life. Politics and religion are clearly intermixed regarding terror. The fact is that when Islam renounces as Christianity did the methods of those like Torquemada, it then will have the MORAL authority to be a religion of Peace.........as it is now Islam is another in a long line of religions that are built upon the shed blood of non believers.
