ok, so i turn my computer on yesterday morning and i get this new thing on the corner toolbar thing next to the clock, saying that my ocmputer is infected with all kinds of things and i need to download their software to stop it. this is what that thing looks liek (corner)
https://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q100/richdowney01/help.jpg

there are 2 of the little icons on that toolbar, and i cannot delete them, and when i click on them they go right to a page to download some kinda of antivirus software. the popups that come up always try to look like official things from windows saying that i am not secure, tho when i go to the real security thing in windows it tells me i am fine. all of the 'alerts' seem to be very phony, so i assume that i am not completely fucked yet, and i only have been infected with this thing that is telling me i am infected with other stuff in order to get me to download or buy their security thing
so iv done a scan with macafee and got nothing, i scanned with AD Aware and it got like 124 things and deleted them, but the icons are still there and the popups are still comeing.
does anyone have any kind of solution?? please?!?

*and ps: no i was not downloading anything or going to and porn websites or anything like that lol.  i really have no clue what happened. it wasnt there when i turned my computer off on friday night and it was there on saterday. very strange*

First off, the virus its warning you about doesn't exist. This is what I call extortionware (the X makes it sound sexy!). It puts itself on your computer and then for a low-low fee it can remove it (which it doesn't).

Look up the Adware thread in Tech, but the programs I would throw at it are

AVG Antispyware - free.grisoft.com
Spybot S&D - spybot.info
Sunbelt Counterspy - sunbelt-software.com
Combofix - last resort - google bleepingcomputer

McAfee doesn't seem to be telling you anything (don't expect it to) but there's no harm letting it do a scan either.

Also if you attempt to download anything, consult http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fa … e_programs

Use task manager to see exactly what process is causing the problem and try ending it.  Also type msconfig in run, go to the startup tab, and uncheck any programs that look fishy.  Then when you restart, anything not checked will not startup.  You can uncheck every program and re-check them one by one if you're not sure what is causing the problem, it won't harm your computer at all to do that.

Do everything that the popups tell you, if it appears on your computer then it has to be good

How do people manage? I run with no protection but the Windows firewall, and all I get is a couple of tracking cookies.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

That's not a trojan horse.  That's spyware.  A trojan horse doesn't let you know it is on your computer.  An anti-virus program does.

Many times programs can't remove spyware.  I for one have had the "failed to remove" or "failed to heal" error way too many times from programs like ad-aware, spybot, norton, etc.  Your best bet is to use the anti-virus programs to find the exact files that are causing the problems and then delete them manually in safe mode.
