To Aussies and New Zealanders. Have a good ANZAC day. Spare a thought for the diggers in all the wars we were involved in.

They went with songs to the battle, they were young.
Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.
The paradox is only a conflict between reality and your feeling what reality ought to be.

And the band played "Waltzing Matilda"
and the Old men still answer the Call,
But year after year,
their numbers grow fewer,
Some day no one will march there at all.

Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda,
Who'll come a waltzing Matilda with me.
And their Ghost's
can be heard
as you pass by the Billabong
Who'll come a-waltzing Matilda
With me.

I heard that song this morning. I'm not one to get moved by songs. But that was quite emotive.

ANZACs.... Made Australia and New Zealand. Wouldn't have become the countries we did without them.

Who were you holding it for?

I was there with the Australian Air Force Cadets, but I didn't carry the National Flag or any units banner - I was photographing the parade. An insane experience, none the less.

I'll link to some pictures when I get them edited.

Just read the story about the guys who kept the Japanese at bay in New Guinea (Kokoda Trail, I believe?). Amazing story. Those guys were truly heroes of the first order.

Yeah it is a helluva story. If you get time read the book " Kokoda " by Peter Fitzsimmons. Goes into really good detail, but it is really interesting all the way through. I have so much respect for those guys. He also wrote a book called "Tobruk" as well, which is just as good.
